Dangerous Liaisons: All About Netflix’s Upcoming French Romantic Film

Dangerous Liaisons is an upcoming French teen romantic film which is set to be released on Netflix in July. It’s based on the 1782 novel of the same name by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The film is directed by Rachel Suissa and the adapted screenplay is written by Suissa and Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun.

The film is about a Parisian girl who falls in love with a popular surfer in her new school, unaware that she’s the object of a cruel bet to make her fall in love with him. Looking at the trailer instantly gives us the film Cruel Intentions feel but mixed with some Mean Girls elements. Since Cruel Intentions was also based on the same book thus, makes it a French version of it.

Dangerous Liaisons Plot/Synopsis

The official Netflix synopsis of the film reads – Book smart Célène falls for bad boy Tristan at her new Biarritz high school, unaware she’s part of a cruel bet he’s made with social media queen Vanessa. The film will follow Célène a 17-year-old idealistic girl. She believes in absolute love and is more interested in reading than in social networks. She is getting ready for living apart from her fiancé, Pierre, for a while, leaving Paris for Biarritz.

Very quickly, she has to face the evil elite of her new school, ruled over by the former big-screen star and Instagram queen Vanessa and the celebrity surfer Tristan, who’s both dangerous and seductive. Célène falls in love with him but is a long way from suspecting that she is at the centre of a cruel bet between Tristan and Vanessa. Just how far will they go?
