Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The episode continues right from the cliffhanger, where Momo finds herself in grave danger. While relaxing in the hot spring, she’s suddenly ambushed by a group of grown men, creating a truly tense and frightening moment. Just in time, Turbo Granny, who somehow managed to tag along on this trip, bursts onto the scene and comes to Momo’s aid. She swiftly takes care of the attackers, and they scatter as the authorities arrive.

Meanwhile, Okarun and Jiji aren’t exactly having a peaceful time either. They’re approached by a group of unsettling women who bear an eerie resemblance to the men who went after Momo. These women are revealed to be part of the Kito family, the same family that owns the house Jiji is staying in. Their demeanour, especially that of the family’s matriarch, raises serious red flags. She seems oddly possessive and disapproving of Jiji having guests or going out, citing his rent-free living arrangement as justification.
But the real shock comes when the trio is attacked outright, and the Kito family’s true motives are exposed. As it turns out, the family has been guarding a dark secret that they believe protects the town. According to them, the deity they worship demands regular sacrifices.

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2 Review
Today’s episode again went beyond my expectations and became way better than I thought. Things begin with the strange behaviour that Okarun and Momo showcased in the last episode, where Okarun attacked Jiji out of nowhere. Here, we see that they are clearly getting affected by the power of the worm, and then they proceed to harm themselves. Their erratic behaviour also proved that the worm is the one responsible for Jiji’s parents trying to commit suicide. It seems that this worm makes people go mad by manipulating them into killing themselves.

However, the worm’s powers do not affect Jiji, and the reason behind it is as scary as it is traumatic. Apparently, the first child who was sacrificed because of the villagers had been the one to protect Jiji all along. His story was sad, and it also reminded me how this anime has the power to turn very emotional in seconds. The segment really portrayed the vile and cruel nature of humans effectively, and I am sure it will impact anyone who watches it.

I specifically love the music that was used for this section. It almost reminded me of the part of Aira from the previous season, which again made me bawl my eyes out. However, things quickly shift to a much more action-oriented segment towards the second half. We finally see the emergence of the evil eye, and I’m pretty sure he is even more powerful than Okarun for now.
The introduction of the evil eye brings forth a dramatic shift in the storyline, and now we will have to see whether he is a friend or a foe. If he turns antagonistic, then it is going to be a tremendous challenge for Okarun and Momo to control him because he is truly very powerful.

Verdict
I absolutely loved today’s episode, and I appreciate how the anime can incorporate many genres in one episode at the same time. It can be funny, emotional and action-packed without missing a beat or making the audience lose interest.
