Dandadan Episode 10 Recap

Dandadan Episode 11 Review

The trio’s most humiliating ordeal has passed, but now they face the daunting task of explaining why they were caught in various states of undress on school grounds. Naturally, the entire school is buzzing with gossip about Momo, Aira, and Okarun, and the three have no plausible explanation to offer. At one point, Aira even contemplates shifting all the blame onto Momo, arguing that it was her suggestion to shed their clothes in the first place. However, this plan never comes to fruition, as Aira undergoes a significant moment of personal growth.

Faced with the temptation to deflect responsibility onto Momo and absolve herself of any involvement, Aira hesitates. She reflects on the damage this could cause and realizes how unfair and cruel it would be. This introspection leads her to admit her own past mistakes, including having spread false rumours about Momo to the class. This newfound accountability marks a turning point for Aira, making her a far more relatable and likeable character.

Adding to the absurdity of the episode is the unexpected backstory of the mantis shrimp alien who attacked the trio in the previous episode. It turns out that his violent antics stem from a desperate need to support his ailing son, for whom he is taking on risky jobs across the galaxy to afford medical treatment.

Things do not look good for Okarun as he is finally getting a tough competitor for Momo’s heart. It is none other than Jiji, her handsome childhood friend who, unlike Okarun, seems to also be pretty physically gifted. You can almost see gears turning in Okarun’s head while witnessing the interaction between Momo and Jiji and coming to the knowledge that Momo has been at one point in love with him.

Jiji, on the other hand, does not have a personality that can match his face. The moment he opens his mouth, he starts to spout absolute nonsense that takes some points away from his face card. He is completely opposite of our hero, as not only can he flirt openly with anyone and everyone, but he also compliments Momo all the time. This part is something that bothers Okarun later in the episode, solidifying his growing jealousy over this new man.

Dandadan Episode 11 Review

But this episode was not entirely focused on love, as we again see another very weird character who can become an important addition to the series later. Apart from that, Jiji is also involved with something sinister, because of which he must live with Momo now. I have a feeling that he would discover some powers and be the 4th member of the crew that Momo has formed.

As I have said time and time again, Dandadan does romance in a manner even seasoned romance shows fail. The way we are witnessing the growth in Okarun and Momo’s relationship is tempting and inspiring. You can see that even though both of them now have second choices in their lives, they are not distracted from each other for even a second. Though Jiji is handsome and Momo’s first love, she still has eyes only for Okarun.

Verdict

Dandadan Episode 11 Review

I absolutely loved this episode, and I’m pretty sure the next one will be even better. We finally have another clue about Okarun’s second balls, and maybe this time, he will gain both of them. I also want to highlight how refreshing it is to see a healthy and meaningful relationship portrayed in a Shounen series, something that is often rare within this genre.
