Dahaad Trailer: Sonakshi Sinha’s Underdog Cop Hunts Down Vijay Varma’s Ruthless Killer

Sonakshi Sinha takes matters into her own hands, when a series of murders surface out of the blue in the Dahaad trailer released on May 3. 2023. After the first glimpse of the series being revealed in the web series’ teaser released on April 26, Amazon Prime Video has unveiled a more in-depth look at the Hindi crime, mystery show releasing soon.

With Sinha leading the cast as Sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati tasked with the investigation in question, she’s accompanied by Gulshan Devaiah as Devilal Singh, Sohum Shah as Kailash Parghi, Vijay Varma as Anand Swarnakar and others in the upcoming series. The thriller piece has been created by Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, while Kagti has also co-directed it with Ruchika Oberoi. Together, Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar and Ritesh Shah have penned the screenplay of the series, for which Gaurav Raina and Tarana Marwah have provided the music.

Other crew members of the Indian web show include Tanay Satam as the cinematographer and Anand Subaya as the editor. Dahaad has been produced under the banner of Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, and Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby Films.

The basic plot of the series follows Sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati leading the investigation of a series of mysterious deaths of women in public bathrooms. However, Anjali’s perspective starts to shift when what initially appeared to be suicides, clear up as the workings of a serial killer on the loose.

As the killer’s profile is speculated to dig in deeper into the case, unusual revelations shake up the police department. With an age between 35-40 years, the perpetrator is seemingly a married man and a father, the profile fits nearly every adult man in India. While Anjali’s suspicions about Anand grow higher, her higher-ups can’t seem to detect any flaws in his character and rule him out as an unlikely suspect. But, nothing stops the Sub-inspector’s indomitable spirit as she charges ahead to catch the merciless killer in this gruelling game of cat and mouse.

Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in the Hindi movie Double XL (2022) with Huma Qureshi and Dabangg 3 (2019), while Varma has previously played critically-acclaimed roles in movies like Darlings (2022), Gully Boy (2019) and series including Mirzapur (2018) and She (2020).

Becoming the first Indian web series to have premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2023, the Hindi series will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video for audiences on May 12, 2023.
