Cyber Vaar: Plot Details
The show is set against the backdrop of Mumbai, Cyber Vaar – Har Screen Crime Scene follows Cyber Crime Cell ACP Aakash Malik (played by Mohit Malik) as he is trying to solve cybercrime by catching the internet trolls on the field aka real life. In the first episode, Ananya Saini (played by Sanaya Irani) and her team (which is just one guy named Kaustabh) strive to track down a malware attack on the Mumbai police servers.
To save the servers from the malware attack they have to work all night at the Mumbai Cyber Crime cell, under Aakash Malik, who doesn’t seem fond of them and wants them to get out. In the meantime, they get a case of blackmailing, where a bride had received a text with a video of her getting intimate with her ex-boyfriend. The blackmailer wants her to break off her marriage or the video will be uploaded to the internet.

The wedding is in the next 24 hours and thus ACP Aakash Malik embarks on the chasing journey with the help of Ananya Saini and Kaustabh (who wants to be called K and take offence if you call his real name). While working out their own differences they try to solve the case by any means before the time runs out.
My Take: Serving Education With A Dialogue Dump
Cyber Vaar – Har Screen Crime Scene has good motivation but ends up looking like a spoon-fed dump of information and unnecessary details. The main leads, in their first meeting, start off on the wrong foot with ACP Aakash Malik being highly suspicious of the ethical hacker Ananya. Even though Ananya and K are working according to the Commissioners orders, the other police officials however keep on interrupting and disregarding their work.
The leads seem to have some history that Aakash cant remember but still doesn’t like Ananya, nevertheless. We don’t get to know why they are conflicting with each other but I guess that would be the plot motivation for the following episodes. Also, it is revealed that Aakash was demoted to Cyber Crime Cell after he did some mistakes which is also not revealed to us.

There’s no doubt that both the leads are good actors but the unclear plot doesn’t work in their favour. The creators in trying to be educational, just dump all the information with a straight face, which honestly could have been done away with. The audience is wise enough to figure things out and the characters don’t need to iterate what we have already seen and understood.
Voot series Cyber Vaar – Har Screen Crime Scene so far have come across like a high budget student production with no substantial research and only flashy gimmicky visuals. I don’t think it’s an ethical hacker’s work to upgrade anyone’s computer system as shown in the show or hack any regular person’s phone, chat history etc without permission to do so. There really needs to be a good story in the following episodes to take the series further or it’s just a series which shows different cybercrime cases with unrealistic investigation.
Cyber Vaar – Har Screen Crime Scene is streaming on Voot.
