Criminal Justice Season 4 Review: Hotstar’s well-loved drama thriller series is back with another season and another set of messy characters and their convoluted motivations behind committing murders! The series follows the shocking murder of Roshni Saluja, who is found bloody and dead in her lover and employer’s arms after a very uncomfortable party the night before. As both the husband and wife are kept in remand on suspicion of committing murder, veteran lawyer Madhav Mishra is brought in to defend one of the accused. However, what skeletons lie in the family’s closet?
Criminal Justice: A Family Matter has 8 episodes, each with a runtime of around 45 minutes.

Criminal Justice Season 4 Review
In the fourth season of Criminal Justice, we find Madhav Mishra and the old team back once more to crack a shockingly dramatic and convoluted case. The old characters come back to work their magic, while the new ones bring up disturbing questions and leaving us hooked to know the answers.
The season’s storyline is quite interesting. Although not very cerebral in the sense that it will leave you unable to comprehend the ending, it has its twists and turns that make it a fun watch. The story is about Raj Nagpal, his wife Anju and their daughter Ira and how, after the murder of Ira’s caretaker Roshni, everyone points fingers at the other. At first, it’s very difficult to understand who the culprit is in this mess. It’s interesting to watch the series unfold; it’s straightforward but has believable twists and turns that will leave most viewers interested.
Criminal Justice Season 3 Review: Pankaj Tripathi Starrer Has Lost Its Charisma

However, it’s not until the last episode that one will be able to piece things together. Both Suvreen Chawla and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are fantastic as Anju and Raj, respectively. Some key information is not given away before the eighth episode, so viewers will find themselves without a true resolution till that time. It tugs at your heartstrings at times, but mostly keeps it light and to the point.
The returning characters add such warmth to the storyline that it’s hard to shake off their charms. Even when they are talking about absolutely nothing, you find yourself smiling at their antics. Thankfully, the silliness is kept in control, and it doesn’t overstay its welcome. All the returning characters find themselves with a new challenge that all of them live up to. Whether or not they win or lose, the characters have a swell time on screen, learning from the experiences that come their way.

I also found the new characters to be quite interesting. Last season, the show dropped the ball on creating believable characters, but this season has a handful of main characters who all have something to hide. Their motivations are crystal clear from the start, although, of course, the skeletons and all. It makes watching all of them working together, trying to one-up one another, fantastic, making us look at everyone with suspicious eyes.
Apart from Chawla and Ayyub, we also see Pankaj Tripathi returning as the protagonist Mishra Ji. Tripathi, of course, needs no introduction and is, once more, fantastic. He’s funny but also extremely smart and attentive, making him the perfect candidate to hold a show like this. Apart from him, Shweta Basu Prasad returns as Adv. Lekha Piramal is fantastic as the hard-hitting Prosecutor who won’t fall into Mishra’s charms.
Final Thoughts

Criminal Justice Season 4 is simple and entertaining, and keeps your attention for its ~7-hour runtime. Its characters are warm and approachable, the crime is twisted enough to keep viewers hooked, and the acting is, as usual, fantastic, helping to run things smoothly. All in all, this one’s entertaining.
