Criminal Code Season 2 Review
Criminal Code returns with another season, and Suellen and Benicio have to hop, skip and jump once more in order to get their cuffs on Isaac, the daredevil thief whose heists (almost) never go wrong. The series weaves a complicated web in the seedy underworld of the drug business, where loyalties are made and broken every few minutes.
The series does a fine job with its various story threads. There is enough entertainment here to keep viewers guessing as to who will win this fight between the police and the thieves. Old connections are restored, some are broken, and surprising new connections are made that will keep audiences guessing for the long haul.

The characters are interesting, and we learn a lot about Isaac, who is called the Ghost in the business. Thankfully, he’s not as spooky as one might think, and Alex Nader does a fine job of playing. Thus, it’s interesting to watch his once-flourishing empire crumble down as the police get closer and closer to him. Criminal Code Season 2 gets deep into the exposition. Sometimes it feels a bit boring, and some of the episodes are a bit longer than necessary. However, the pacing is pretty good, and viewers will find themselves engaged for the most part.
The most interesting part about the series is the characters and their connections. Whether it be the police or the criminals, everyone has a personal struggle that we are made privy to. Family is a big part of the series, and we are given an insight into how everyone perceives it. It’s very interesting to see everyone’s justifications on how they treat their family change from one person to another. I found myself relating to the characters a bit more thanks to their struggles.

I also quite enjoyed the action sequences. Although there’s far too much gun violence and we don’t see enough heists this season, the action sequences were still entertaining and formed a big part of the runtime. The new characters were also charming and weren’t just there to push the protagonists forward. Rômulo Braga and Maeve Jinkings return as Benicio and Suellen respectively and are fantastic. I think the police aren’t just mere spectators in this series, which is always a plus, and are almost toe to toe with the thieves. It’s interesting to see them deducing the thieves’ next moves, which isn’t something we see a lot in shows these days.
Final Thoughts

Criminal Code Season 2 is entertaining enough and leaves you interested throughout. It can get a bit long in some parts, but overall, this one’s a pretty good follow-up season.
