– Crimes Aaj Kal Episode 5 Review Contains Spoilers –
The episode starts with Vikrant Massey receiving a friend request from a woman, making it the upcoming story’s main theme. Following this, we’re driven into the story where the police, along with a woman called Natasha, watch CCTV footage of a man named Anuj, who looks extremely disturbed before going to his home and ending his life. Police wind up the case stating that it is a suicide, but his fiancee Natasha pressures that there is an underlying cause.
We’re then shown Anuj and Natasha having their best days in the past to help the viewers analyze whether Natasha is acting or is indeed sad about the demise of Anuj. Moving on, three colleagues of Anuj then discuss privately how they didn’t expect the latter would die by suicide. This raises curiosity as to why these three are involved with Anuj’s death.

When Natasha tries to fix pieces, her father convinces her to return to Mumbai since no matter what she tries, Anuj is not going to come back. However, she is persistent in finding the cause behind his death. Then, Natasha gets a call from one of Anuj’s colleagues, Jaydeep. It is revealed that all three colleagues have transferred money to Anuj because he had something to sort out. Anuj’s parents deny his actions, for they express that he had no need to borrow such hefty amounts when he has been earning well.

On tracing the account holders, the police arrive at a location where young teenagers are used to creating fake accounts and reaching out to guys. The cops arrest some of the main culprits to receive the whole story.
Apparently, Anuj has received a friend request from a fake ID called Sonia which he thought is a real person. After constantly texting for days, he joins a video call with her and becomes nasty. In reality, the video of Sonia is pre-recorded, and Anuj, who is unaware of it, encounters the sexual call. The criminal, Sadiq, then records this video. Sadiq then sends the video to Anuj and threatens to give him money.

Anuj’s money exhausts, and he decides to end his life. After knowing this truth, Natasha breaks down, and the episode ends with Vikrant Massey’s note on fake IDs and social media.
