Bulgasal: Immortal Soul, or 불가살/Bulgasal, is a fantasy-thriller Korean drama created by Jang Young-woo, Kwon So-ra, and Seo Jea-won and stars Lee Jin-uk, Kwon Na-ra, and Lee Joon, alongside other cast members. There are 16 episodes, and Bulgasal episode 7 has a runtime of 77 minutes.

Hwal starts off Bulgasal episode 7 having a hissy fit wondering why Sang-un doesn’t have the scar that the Bulgasal had. I am getting really tired of him just running up to Sang-un and violently holding her neck from behind like his life depends on it. It’s so annoying to watch him constantly do that and it’s so insulting. But then again, he’s a very old blood-drinking monster so what can you say.
Either way, he takes her to a place so that she can remember her past. However, her previous life’s story comes up short for her and she doesn’t remember anything, although Hwal does his best to make her remember and his story makes her have nightmares about the incident. Meanwhile, Ho-hyeol goes on a quest to find who Eul-tae is.
Hwal and Sang-un go to the village where Kim Hwa-yeon’s house burnt down 50 years ago. There, though, they realise that there is something more to the story than meets the eye. In order to find her past, they find a fire monster and realise that they have both started something that will result in more people dying. Unable to accept this, Sang-un rushes to stop the devastation but Hwal stops her and goes instead.
It is here that Sang-un learns of Eul-tae’s secret from the fire monster. She saw Eul-tae kill Hwa-yeon and after that he fell apart. His weakness is Sang-un. As soon as she tells her, the monster attacks her and tries to kill her. This results in Eul-tae keeling over in pain as well. They, apparently, share this bond together. Just as the monster is about to kill her, though, Hwal stops her and she dies.
On the other hand, Si-ho looks into Hye-suk’s past and sees things that are not so pleasant. Also, weirdly, Do-yun is working for Eul-tae, who is looking after his older brother’s treatment. This revelation comes out of the left field but has literally no effect on us since there is absolutely no reason to care for Do-yun. His character, till now, is unnecessary and silly. Now that he is working for the enemy front, it’s more annoying to watch him do all this silly stuff.
Bulgasal episode 7: What happens next?
So, ok, Bulgasal episode 7 was a bit of a drag except for the revelation about Sang-un and Eul-tae. That’s interesting and I really want to know how that is happening. In the next episode though, there will probably be some more interesting things to look forward to, including talks of Sang-un destroying everything once she gets her memory back, Eul-tae doing something to Hwal and Ho-yeol and Sang-un possibly getting angry. Either way, Bulgasal is going rather slow right now and it really needs to pick up the pace before I totally lose interest here.
