Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review: Arajin Needs To Step Up

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review: Another episode has dropped from this unusual anime, and we are still in a time when Matakara is the bad guy. Read ahead to find out more.

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Overview

Bucchigiri?! is a new anime series and an original anime from MAPPA, the studio behind popular shows like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. It’s set to premiere this January, so it’s just around the corner!

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review Arajin Needs To Step Up

The series is described as a return to the delinquent/Yanki genre of anime, which was popular in the late 90s and early 2000s with shows like Cromartie High School and Great Teacher Onizuka.

Under the direction of Hiroko Utsumi and the story of Taku Kishimoto, the series also consists of the musical composition of Michiru Ōshima, while character designs are by Takahiro Kagami.

The opening theme, “Sesame” by Kroi, sets the tone, and the ending theme will be Love je t’aime (らぶじゅてーむ)” by Mahiru Coda (甲田まひる).

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review and Recap: Matakara’s Revenge

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review Arajin Needs To Step Up

We are very close to the final showdown, and because of that, many things are coming to light. In this episode, we saw a glimpse of what might have happened with Senya and Ichiya. Apparently, after some time, practising the art of Honki person became highly mistrusted and was banned from the time of Senya and Ichiya. Those who were seen practising this art form were readily hunted and sentenced to death. In such a scenario, Ichiya held some unknown grudge against his friend, and while challenging Senya in a duel, both were shot and killed.

This part was not clear, and the reason behind Ichiya’s resentment towards Senya was pretty vague. What I could understand is that Ichiya was mad at Senya because he was not fighting with his full power. But that fact again, should not be enough to harbour resentment so strong that Ichiya will take that hatred onto his next life. I hope there is more to this than just basic reasoning like “You were not being true to yourself and me”.

Bucchigiri Episode 11 Review Arajin Needs To Step Up

Back in the current timeline, Matakara, for the lack of better words, has gone completely nuts. He is not controlled by Ichiya and is already causing enough mayhem by himself. Matakara is actively picking fights left and right, and the person on his current hit list is someone whom he respected for the longest time. He is definitely not remorseful about his wrongdoings, and he even constructs a twisted definition of strength for his own satisfaction. Matakara is essentially seeking ways to be stronger, but the way he is doing it is not the right way at all.

I thought things would go down with Arajin in this episode, but it did not happen. Thankfully, Arajin was daring enough by the end to confirm that he now has enough motivation to fight Matakara full-on. He is still a person who is very indecisive and not someone you can rely on, but as he is the protagonist, we can expect a sudden shift in his character.

 Verdict

Today’s episode was everything that I thought it would be. The scenarios and character developments are predictable, and you know what is going to happen in the next episode. It is obvious that Matakara will stop his madness only after getting a solid beating from Arajin. And as I said before, one of the best saving graces of this anime is the nicely choreographed fights, so, we can look forward to that. If you are into this sort of anime, you can definitely watch this.
