BTS Members have just wrapped up their World Expo 2030 Busan Korea concert on October 15, 2022, where the members hinted at possible enlistment. However, on 17th October, their representative company Bighit Music announced that all the members will be going into the military, starting from Jin.
The other members will also perform military service sequentially according to their plans, as per their solo schedule. Previously, Jin, who is born in 1992, was permitted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment in accordance with the Military Service Act amended in 2020, and his enlistment had been postponed until the end of this year.
The current Military Service Act stipulates that persons with special skills in the fields of arts and sports prescribed by the Presidential Decree and recommended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism may be given an extension or exemption from service. However, the enforcement ordinance of the Military Service Act does not include ‘popular culture or Kpop’ as a speciality in the field of arts and sports.

The entertainment company wrote in its notice that, “BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfil their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030, and as each individual embarks on solo endeavours, it’s a perfect time and the members of BTS are honoured to serve.”
Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group including Suga, RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.
Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment. The notice ends on the note that their previous release Yet To Come, is more than a track from their latest album, it is a promise, there’s much more yet to come in the years ahead from BTS.
Even in the ending comments of the concert, the members assured fans that they want to continue as a group for many years to come and whatever happens, they hope that the fans will believe in and support them.
