BTS’ Jimin officially made his solo debut earlier this month and has remained unstoppable ever since. From topping the South Korean charts like Melon, Bugs, Genie and Flo, the singer went on to grab the top positions in the international music charts as well. Billboard is one of the most prestigious American chart systems, which measures the height of the success of newly released songs.
Like Crazy by Jimin sits at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becomes the first South Korean solo act to reach the position in the 65-year-old history of the chart system. Additionally, he becomes the second K-pop act after the boy band he is part of, BTS, to achieve that feat and the second Asian soloist in history following Kyu Sakamoto’s Sukiyaki (1963).
Besides in the Hot 100, the song also charted #2 on Billboard The Global Excl. U.S. chart and #2 on Billboard Global 200 chart. Overall, this song is Jimin’s seventh song to chart on the Hot 100 and previously scored six #1 hits as a member of BTS. Apart from Like Crazy, the six other songs include Dynamite, Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat), Life Goes On, Butter, Permission To Dance and Coldplay’s My Universe.
The singer dethrones Flowers by Miley Cyrus as the No. 1 song on the chart, which has been sitting in the no. 1 position for more than 4 weeks. Other songs that is included in the charts are Last Night by Morgan Wallen, Kill Bill by Sza, Die for You by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift and more.
The chart-topping song is the title track from the artist’s solo album Face which consists of five b-side tracks: Face-off, Interlude: Dive, Like Crazy, Alone, Set Me Free Pt. 2 and Like Crazy (English Version). The BTS member has also actively participated in the production and contributed to the lyrics for the upcoming album.
Solo songs from the other members of the group also charted under Hot 100. J-Hope’s Chicken Noodle Soup, More, Arson, On The Street Suga’s Daechwita, Girl of My Dreams, That That, V’s Christmas Tree, Jungkook’s Stay Alive, Left And Right, Jin’s The Astronaut and RM’s Wild Flower.
The fandom took to Twitter to celebrate the massive accomplishment. Within minutes it became a trending topic on the platform as everyone from the community came together to congratulate the artist. Additionally, he made an Instagram post thanking his fans with the caption “Love you all”.
