Bodh is drama series directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, and stars Afzal Hossain, Runa Khan, Sarah Alam, Khairul Basar, Orchita Sporshia, Shahjahan Shamrat and Rawnak Hasan, alongside other cast members. The series has 8 episodes, each with a runtime of around 25 minutes.

Hoichoi’s description reads:

The past haunts a retired judge and sends him on a downward spiral. When his daughter reopens his old cases in a bid to help her father, the duo face the brutalities of a crippling legal system.

What do you do when someone close to you is haunted by the dreams of his past? Judge Alamgir’s daughter Srabonti, along with DBI officer Ehsan, try to jump into a murky past to find out a rather confounding mystery.

The story travels back and forth between the past and the present to give us an understanding of what happened 5 years before Alamgir’s conscience started to act up. It’s interesting to watch how a guilty conscience can push someone (with connections, of course) to search for answers years later.

Bodh

The series, honestly, creates a good mystery – what happened 5 years ago? How did a seemingly innocent man get embroiled in a legal mess? We get to know the answers to that and a secret underbelly of crime that will leave you baffled in the end. Apart from the mystery, there are a lot of personal moments that we see brewing in our characters’ lives, but even these moments feel like they belong in the storyline and do not overwhelm it. It gives our characters some depth and makes us invested in their journey.

One bad thing that I must point out is the extra characters do a really bad job of holding on to their characters. Most of the time, you can find several people in the background laughing or doing something that doesn’t make sense in the scene. That being said, the primary characters are good and quite grungy and make sense in the grand scheme of things.

Plus, the storytelling is excellent, and the way the different branches of the story weave in and out will keep you on the edge of your seat. What started off as something innocuous takes on a rather large form that leaves Srabonti and Ehsan, along with us, shocked. From the first episode, the mystery will make you think, and the answers aren’t always there at first. Thus, you wonder what could’ve happened, and you learn the truth slowly as the characters get to know them.

The series does an excellent job at holding its cards close to its chest, thus keeping us in the dark long enough to be left baffled as the cards fall in the right places. Plus, as I mentioned previously, thanks to really fleshing out its characters, Bodh makes us root for them, investing us further in the journey.

So, does the mystery fair towards the end as we finally get to know the truth? Thankfully, the series doesn’t beat around the bush and gives us a to-the-point answer. The intricacies of the story are there, and the characters are the right kind of flawed for us to believe in and relate to them. Sarah Alam, playing Srabonti, is excellent and is always annoyed with something or the other – it feels like she understands my general disdain towards everything and everyone!

Summing Up: Bodh

Bodh is an interesting show that gives doesn’t do anything too shocking but creates a mystery that will be a good watch for those in need of a quick and simple fix. Plus, it ends on a cliffhanger as well, so you know!

Bodh is streaming on Hoichoi.
