Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 12 Recap
Early on, we learn about Oliver’s aspirations to become a striker. Despite his skills as a defender, his ultimate dream was to be the best striker in the world. However, his coach recognized Oliver’s exceptional ability to elevate the game through his assists and defensive prowess. For the sake of the team’s overall success, Oliver had to pivot his goals, sacrificing his ambition before it could fully flourish.

Rather than dwelling on what could have been, Oliver redirected his focus, aiming to become the greatest defender of all time. As a result, he emerged as a cornerstone of the under-20 team, a fearsome obstacle capable of halting even the most skilled opponents. But Oliver isn’t the only one pushing his limits; Gagamaru stands out as a remarkable goalkeeper.

Isagi, meanwhile, inches closer to solving his puzzle and unlocking his flow. However, his progress doesn’t go unnoticed as Sae identifies Isagi as the true core of Blue Lock. Ultimately, the spotlight falls on Barou, who steals the show with his remarkable determination and triumphant comeback.
Blue Lock Season 2 Episodes 13 And 14 Review

These were hands down the best episodes of Blue Lock from any and every angle imaginable. All the complaints we all had with this season get redeemed here and it feels great to end this season on a positive note. Episode 13 is where you could feel the tide shift as everyone comes forward to score a goal, as that would break the tied score.
We see even the weaker players of U-20 scaling up their play and becoming as affected by the intensity as others. Sae and Shidou constantly try to take the ball and make the play happen and miss by a hair. This was possible because Rin knew Sae was the only proper threat in the field and if he did not stop him, they would not win. Rin thus, tries his best to read into the plays of his brother and keep him cornered.

This is where things get interesting. In episode 14, the constant battle within Rin to surpass his brother, get his acknowledgement and score a goal made him snap and enter his flow state. In this state, he becomes an absolute tyrant who lures his rivals into a false sense of power and crushes them in their own area of strength. Even Sae comes forward to go for a head-to-head battle, signalling only one of the brothers can come out at the top.

However, sadly for both Sae and Rin, there is another striker who not only has inhumanely sharp senses but also has the ability to analyse a play better than anyone. It happens to be Isagi who gets to have the last laugh. Many might claim it as luck, but I refuse to believe that. Isagi’s calculation made him present at the right spot, and his mastery gave him a chance to seize the opportunity and shine brilliantly.
Verdict

I have no words, as I am pleasantly surprised by the gift of some great animation in the last 15 minutes of the play. The animators really pulled through and graced us with an experience we will never forget. I was at the edge of my seat and even held my breath with anticipation, so yes, I absolutely loved it. Please watch this season, at least for the last episode.
