Blood Coast Season 2 Ending Explained
The season starts right after the end of the first season. Ali Saïdi is released from prison thanks to corruption, after which he tries to regain control of the power vacuum in Marseille. Meanwhile, Lyes escapes from prison and eventually joins Ali, apparently having left his cop life behind for something more fruitful.
As he goes missing and a manhunt starts, things get complicated with the team as well. Audrey is arrested for her hand in the murder of a woman, while the others are put under strict scrutiny for their unorthodox investigation methods. Beckerman and Miranda desperately try to stop the drug business in the city while trying to find a connection between Lyes’s team and the mafia.

Is Lyes really working with Ali?
Towards the end of the series, we learn that Lyes is actually working undercover with Miranda to bring Ali down and get his badge back. He gets intel that Ali is working on a huge cocaine job, after which he will retire, and is asked to testify against him by Miranda. This proves to be dangerous as it might result in Lyes getting targeted, but he ends up pushing through, as he wants to see Marseille free of violent gang behaviour.

Franck Murillo’s death in the last season gave way to the Djaoui brothers trying to gain traction, but thankfully, that is quickly quashed in this season after Lyes’s team apprehends them. Moreover, viewers will find themselves questioning Lyes’s motives after he commits a few dangerous encounters on Ali’s orders to prove his worth, including shooting Miranda, but, in the end, we learn that his intentions have always been noble.
Is Ali caught?
In episode 5, Ali attempts to work with Lyes to get the cocaine job done quickly and tests his loyalty. In episode 8, just as he’s about to be caught on drugs charge, the cops realise that the consignment is empty and Ali’s men have gotten to it before them. Meanwhile, Laborde lets Ali know that Lyes pretended to kill Miranda, leaving him fuming.

Angry about being backstabbed by someone he trusted, he picks up Yassine and beats him mercilessly while confronting Lyes. The latter asks him to give it all up and save himself, but Ali asks him to shoot him instead, and although Lyes isn’t able to pull the trigger, Yassine ends up shooting him dead.
Lyes is left heartbroken, having become a close friend over the course of his job.
What happens in the end?

In the aftermath, Jaddou Sidi asks Chris to get in touch with Lyes, who takes this opportunity to bring the entire operation down. However, his involvement with the police is caught by Chris, who realises that something shady is going on with Lyes. However, in a shocking twist, Lyes gets out of the sticky situation by telling her that his old colleagues are dirty cops and becomes the successor to Ali’s empire. The series doesn’t answer whether or not he took the deal to get to Sidi, but it seems like he will. That’s the only way he will be able to get close to the boss.
