The South Korean girl group TWICE is making waves at Billboard Women In Music 2023, by winning the Breakthrough Artist award at the ceremony held on 2nd March. With this honour, they became the first female South Korean act to get the award and the excitement could be heard in their speech while accepting it.
Among the claps and cheers that wouldn’t stop congratulating and hyping up the group, TWICE member Chaeyoung was the first one to speak. She first thanked them for giving them the award and said that it was the most amazing/magical way that they can start their year. She further said, “Even Since we became Twice, we believed in ourselves & each other to always be together when taking a step towards our future.”
It was even more meaningful since all the members of the group were present in front of all their fans, ‘Once’ who made their dreams come true. She stated that if you confidently push through your dreams, people who support you will always be your team and you will break through. Another member Tzuyu was the next member to speak and said that this will motivate them and break more barriers.
She further expressed her gratitude to all the fans and Billboard and playing on the word ‘breakthrough’, expressed that the group will continue to make strides in the music industry.
TWICE Winning Speech
The South Korean girl group is formed by one of the biggest entertainment agencies, JYP and consists of nine members namely – Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. The group actually came to form on the television program Sixteen and the members who made it to the end, debuted on 20th October 20 with the EP The Story Begins.

It didn’t take long for the group to become a public favourite as their songs like Cheer Up, TT and many more became instant hits on their release. Their fresh and bubbly concept with sweet melodic sounds won over fans and non-fans alike. Although short Tik Tok challenges weren’t a trend then, one could spot many celebrities dancing to their songs in their fan meets and variety shows.

In the backstage interview, Twice further expressed their wish to make more people know about their music and perform at various stages in the US as well. They also talked about Sabrina Carpenter, who presented them and how they are a fan as well, along with female friendship & how they feel like a family after being together for all these years. Also, they gave some hints about their upcoming album and told the fans to brace themselves & look forward to their new charming sides.
