Bigg Boss 20 Episode 23 felt less like a house full of people fighting over the obvious things and more like everyone checking where they stand with others. The episode was one of those where dynamics became more interesting.
Bigg Boss opened the 2X Room’s door 2 for the first time in the episode, and bigger developments happened subsequently in the episode. Entering through door 2 means the person has the power to grant a life to the housemates.
Bigg Boss 20 Episode 23: Gullu Has to Choose Between Ration and Lives
Bigg Boss presented Gullu with four options: the first offered 80% ration with the lives of two contestants who had lost their lives in Week 1; the second offered 80% ration with the lives of two contestants who had lost their lives in Week 2; the third offered 80% ration with the lives of two contestants who had lost their lives in Week 3. The fourth option was more tempting on the ration window: 120% ration but without restoring anyone’s life.
Gullu chose the first option, meaning the house would get 80% ration while the two contestants who lost their lives in Week 1 would get them back; thus, Kanika Mann and Uditi Singh would now get back their lives and continue with two in the game.
This means that both Kanika and Uditi, even if they get the fewest votes, do not have the danger of eviction hanging over their head and would still be in the house, losing a life just like any contestant who has two lives.
The Nomination Gets Brutal
The nomination process then brought BB 20 contestants opposite to each other to not be nominated. Gullu being the captain was not a part of the task.
The housemates were divided into pairs, and since the Bigg Boss house has 13 members as of now, the last pairing was supposed to be a group of three. Each pair had to mutually decide who among the two would be nominated, failing which both the contestants in the pair would be nominated.
The pairings played out as follows:
- Rhiti Tiwari and Amrapali Dubey – both nominated
- Arishfa Khan and Mahi Vij – Mahi nominated
- ScoutOP and Aasif Khan – Scout nominated
- Qazi Touqeer and Uditi Singh – both nominated
- Aman Gandhi and Kanika Mann – both nominated
- Love Gill, Yung DSA and Mary Kom – all three nominated
The nominated contestants for the week are: Rhiti Tiwari, Amrapali Dubey, Mahi Vij, ScoutOP, Qazi Touqeer, Uditi Singh, Aman Gandhi, Kanika Mann, Love Gill, Yung DSA and Mary Kom, leaving only three contestants on the safe side.
Are the Groups Starting to Crack?
The most interesting part of the episode, however, was the subtle cold vibes within the BB 20 house.
Qazi, Mahi, Arishfa and Aman were seen appearing colder, and Mahi was seen discussing Uditi’s change in behaviour. According to Mahi, she felt Uditi’s behaviour had changed after Uditi was referred to as Mahi’s “sheep” during Weekend Ka Vaar.
The contestants also began discussing the group’s formation: who joined the group when, who was actually part of the group since the beginning and whether Mahi is really leading the group in the way everyone outside seems to perceive.
Meanwhile, Yung’s use of the word “gang” while referring to them, his friends, did not exactly land well with Aasif. Yung explained that the word was simply a part of his slang, but Aasif’s objection went beyond that because, according to him, if Yung kept using the word “gang”, then the audience could potentially read it as Yung being the leader and others being his members.
Then came another tiny moment that somehow carried more baggage than the situation itself. Scout was suddenly seen clean-shaven, which prompted Yung to ask him why he shaved. Scout explained that he had already planned to do so and simply wanted to try something different, but Yung did not seem entirely convinced.
The context is that last week, housemates had already pointed out that Scout and Aasif’s beard was matching Yung, turning the similarity into a little talking point in the house.
Bigg Boss Season 20 Episode 23 Review: The House Is Getting Less Predictable
What makes Episode 23 interesting is that there is no single explosive confrontation carrying the entire episode, but there are fractures everywhere.
Gullu has made a ration-versus-lives decision; eleven contestants are nominated; Mahi and Uditi’s equation appears to be under discussion while the group is questioning its own hierarchy; Aasif does not want to be reduced to someone’s “gang member”; and even Scout knew look has somehow wandered back into the conversation.
The alliances in the Bigg Boss house can seem to be perfectly intact when seen from a distance, while quietly becoming uncomfortable with each other, and that is what happened in Episode 23 of Bigg Boss Hindi.
Bigg Boss Season 20 has officially entered the “everyone is watching everyone else” phase, and this is probably where things should get fun.
