In all honestly, this was a pretty weak year to compile a list of Best Superhero Movies of 2022. Furthermore, it also failed to produce a single billion-dollar superhero film which is kind of a first in the last five to six years. However, that didn’t stop us from witnessing an array of DC and Marvel flicks like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor Love and Thunder and obviously the internet favourite Morbius. Since the year is almost coming to an end, let’s finally take a look at the best stuff from the year.

The Batman
Even though we had a pretty average year in terms of superhero year, Matt Reeve’s gritty tribute to the Gotham Knight was something special. The Batman featuring Robert Pattinson was a gritty rendition of the cape crusader, that remained thoroughly honest to its subject matter.
It also marked the first symbolic appearance of the watchful protector and gave us one of the most iconic car-chasing sequences of all time (Michael Giacchino’s score is still burned inside my head). And if this wasn’t enough, we also got to see three Villains of Gotham, all in one place. You can stream the movie on Amazon Prime Video.
Black Adam
Let me be the first one to say this (blindly assuming anyone hasn’t), 2022 was the year of DC movies. Marvel, really had a tough time competing with its own euphoria of Spider-Man: No Way Home and struggled to even match the raw vibes of Black Adam.
To be honest, I had little to no expectations when I first sat in the theatre for the origin story of Teth Adam, but the sound of whistles and nonstop claps really turned me into a Dwayne Johnson believer.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, this top-notch DC flick is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
I might have my fair share of issues with the most awaited sequels of the year, but there is no doubt about the merit of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The transition of grief in this emotional Ryan Coogler flick is Marvel’s finest execution to date and hits almost all the right notes.
Furthermore, the total runtime of the screenplay (written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole) became a key reason behind its criticism and failed to match the grip of the original.
However, the film was still successful in resonating with the fan and became the seventh highest-grossing movie of the year. The two-hour forty epics are yet to drop on any streaming platform.
DC League of Super-Pets
The third DC film on the list was actually a fun-filled ride revolving around superheroes with paws. The plot of the DC League of Super-Pets finds the members of the Justice League kidnapped by Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor, only to get rescued by their incredible pets.
This animated movie was voiced by actors like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, and John Krasinski and helmed by Jared Stern. Moreover, you can stream it on Amazon Prime Video.
