6 Best LGBTQ Couples on Screen That Make Our Hearts Melt: Holt-Kevin, Cam-Mitchell and Others

For so long, the representation of queer couples has been incredibly stereotyped and harmful. However, as time went on and mindsets became wider, the following best LGBTQ couples on screen graced us and showed us that queerness could be so cute and so hyperspecific. As time has gone on, their relationships have gotten the same level of love as other heterosexual couples have gotten. Some of these couples are unhinged, some of them are cute, and others make you feel like you’ve taken a break from all the terrible things happening in it.

Queer couples have their own energy and characteristics that make them so easy to root for. Additionally, since the following ones weren’t queerbaited or shared like they only might be something, the satisfaction when they get together or see their domesticity is too fun to pass up. So without any further ado, here are the LGBTQ couples that make our hearts melt.

Best LGBTQ Couples on Screen

Holt-Kevin from Brooklyn Nine-Nine

After seeing these two banter in their intellectual specificity, start kerfuffles for each other and even recreate a kiss in the rain, it is absolutely heinous not to call them one of the best couples. Need I mention that when they co-parent their dog Cheddar, it is the cutest thing anyone has ever seen? Moreover, regular viewers of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine lore know about the clapping-back thing and the brilliant Halloween heist sequence. Their rollercoaster relationship always gave us the hope that even if things aren’t going well now, they will soon be back together again.

Played by Andre Braugher and Marc Evan Jackson, respectively, this show is currently streaming on Netflix.

Cam-Mitchell from Modern Family

Seeing their relationship become more and more comedic over 11 seasons was just enough to put them on this list. Whether it be parenting their daughter Lily or just hanging with the family in general, they have made every interaction so interesting to see that it never gets old to watch Modern Family because of them. Every season, there is a new meme born from their interactions, like the sequence when Cam and Mitchell lock their daughter in the car by accident, and the times he dresses up as a clown only for Mitchell to absolutely lose his mind are just too good.

Played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, respectively, this series is streaming on Disney+.

Nick-Charlie from Heartstopper

Seeing two people slowly develop feelings for each other is enough to make my slow-burn loving heart bloom way too hard. Seeing Nick go from thinking of Charlie as a platonic companion to a full-blown boyfriend while the two of them establish clear boundaries and care for each other is just one of the many reasons why their relationship on Heartstopper makes it on this list. Nick and Charlie are full of goals because they are clueless and aloof but respectful and vulnerable enough to make the maturity in the storytelling shine.

Played by Kit Connor and Joe Locke, this series is currently streaming on Netflix.

Maze-Eve from Lucifer

Two of the most volatile people got into a relationship, and it made them more volatile than ever in the best way. Seeing Maze not care about anyone romantically, including Amenadiel, was fun, but seeing how dedicated she is to her partners was amazing. Even though Eve is incredibly aloof and a full-blown party girl, the way she brings groundedness to Maze and others in the team is the reason why their relationship works on Lucifer. The main protagonists’ relationship has nothing on them. They are both so specific and unabashed that it makes us love them more.

Played by Lesley-Ann Brandt and Inbar Lavi, this series is currently streaming on Netflix.

Piper-Alex from Orange is the New Black

While their relationship starts off pretty rocky in the beginning, and you can feel it almost grating on the nerves while watching, the premise itself is so interesting that one cannot look away. While both these characters get into the most toxic relationship outside and inside the prison, their relationship progressively gets better, even ending in them getting married. Orange is the New Black gave us a couple that was consistently growing even as the characters were going through their own arc; their relationship had one too.

Played by Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon, this series is currently streaming on Netflix.

Jesper-Wylan from Shadow and Bone

Of all the relationships in the show, theirs is by far the cutest, healthiest relationship so far (fingers crossed for the others). We are first introduced to them in the second season, but the fact that they already knew each other because they hooked up before gave their whole book dynamic a shift and thrust them into a position where both of the characters were mature enough to deal with it. Additionally, the silent treatment and the assuaging are too cute for me to handle.

Played by Kit Young and Jack Wolfe, this series is currently streaming on Netflix.
