The Korean pop world is quaking because this song’s, Bouncy 1st win was enough of a spectacle to get people incredibly excited. This K-pop band made their debut in 2018 and consists of eight members, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho. This win comes from the Korean music show titled The Show, and in this episode, the boy band was declared to be ‘The Show Choice’ of this week.
Their win was incredibly well-deserved, considering they beat last week’s winners with a pretty good margin (however, not as good as the margin between the second and third place this week). fromis_9 was also in the running this week with their song, Menow, joined by LUN8, who came third on the chart. The winning band received 7220 points while the second place received 6485 points, and the third place got 2377 points.
This Korean music show has been going on since 2011 and is being aired live every Tuesday on SBS and broadcast from SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea. MTV has also partnered with the channel to provide this show being broadcast across 20 countries, including but not limited to France and Japan. This season is being hosted by Xiaojun (WayV), Hyeongseop (TEMPEST) and Yeosang (ATEEZ).
The prize ATEEZ won was based off the chart data that the show collects every week. However, that is not the only metric they use in order to choose a winner. Contestants are judged based on the broadcast views, digital sales, physical album sales, music video views, voting and online ranking. Leading in all of these factors, the boy band was able to make their way to the top and bag their first win for the single in this show.
Bouncy is from their extended play titled The World EP2: Outlaw. It is a continuation from The World EP1: Movement and consists of six songs, including the aforementioned, This World, Dune, Bouncy (K-Hot Chilli Peppers), DJANGO, Wake Up and Outlaw. This EP came out just four days before this episode premiered on SBS, and they have already bagged a win. They also released a single earlier this year consisting of the songs Limitless and DIAMOND.
They have previously won many times on the same show and others for songs like WAVE, INCEPTION, FIREWORKS, DEJA VU, Guerrilla and HALAZIA, making this the fourteenth win for the group in total. This is their first award after the latest comeback, and they mention that in their speech, saying how amazing it is to have won after making their comeback recently. They thank their fans for giving this song the love it received and for waiting so long for new music to come out.
