Barry Season 1 Recap
Barry Berkman is a skilled assassin who is guided by Monroe Fuches, the man who is in links with the Chechen gang. Barry is assigned to kill Ryan Madison, who is having an affair with one of Chechen bosses, Pazar’s wife. When Barry carries out his work with Ryan he breaks a rule and comes face to face with Ryan. The latter unaware of Barry’s motive befriends him and takes him to his acting class (Ryan is an actor). When Barry auditions, his terrible acting skills are taunted. Nevertheless, he is included in the class, which makes him feel weird in a nice way.
Barry meets a fellow classmate from the acting group, Sally, and romantically pursues her. When Barry forgets to kill Ryan, the Chechens get irritated, and so they send a mob to finish off Ryan and Barry as well. They successfully kill Ryan, but Barry’s skills get the mob dead. After this incident, Barry’s head, Fuches, is kidnapped by the Chechen gang for wrongdoings of Barry.

Another boss from the Chechen gang called NoHo Hank assigns Barry to kill another target, Paco, and Barry carries it out. Meanwhile, when the acting class sets up a memorial service for Ryan, Barry feels terrible after witnessing the loss of Ryan’s family.
Now the LAPD starts to take matters into their hand to figure out the murders. They somehow figure out that Pazar is involved in Ryan’s death. When all these conflicts are going on, Barry finds himself stuck between his criminal and personal life because things are going well with Sally since they both have their private time.
The Chechens rope in a legendary assassin, Stovka, to kill Barry and Fuches. However, Stovka commits suicide and the blame falls on Fuches. Coming back to LAPD, a detective called Moss starts to date Gene, the instructor of Barry’s acting class. On the other hand, Sally’s life crumbles after her agent drops her. Her friend, who started along with her, is now a successful actress. Things aren’t going well with Barry since the latter seems to be stuck with his assassin identity (Sally has no clue about it.)

Coming back to Barry, he is offered by Fuches to raid a stash house for money but he rejects. Nevertheless, his marine friends Chris, Vaughn, and Taylor figure out about the money in the stash house and rope in Barry to raid the house. They successfully loot the wealth. Fuches asked Barry to kill Taylor after the raid since he isn’t trustworthy.
Barry and Sally stay apart for the time being since Barry still can’t process what’s going on with him. He even comes forward and opens up about his assassin life in the acting class, but the actors think of it as his PTSD story from his old marine life.
Next, Barry, along with his marine friends, plans to ambush a Bolivian drug lord called Cristobal’s party. However, when they try to stay hidden, the Bolivians shoot the car that kills Taylor and Vaughn, leaving Barry and Chris alive. A Chechen member, Vacha, secretly follows Barry and finds out his whereabouts, only to find a way to kill him to avenge his brother’s death.
When Vacha follows Barry to his acting class, he comes across detective Moss and escapes. Moss chases him and ends up shooting him. At the same time, Moss finds the cash bag that Barry kept in his theater’s toilet. This alarms her. As Moss is close with Gene, she has a good chance of staying close to Barry.

Now, the drug lord Cristobal thinks that the Chechens plan to kill him, hence he promises to take revenge. This news makes Chechens extremely mad at Fuches, and they want him dead somehow. NoHo Hank tells Barry about the plot to kill Fuches, which helps Barry to wipe out Pazar.
Barry is very fond of his friend Chris, but he kills him when the latter says that he is going to the police. Detective Moss finds the dead Marine guys and fixes that Barry is the main culprit.
Barry’s Past Continues
Barry finally assumes that all his problems are over, and now he can throw away his assassin’s life. He starts dating Sally again, and they’re seen having a happy time. But Moss knows the truth, but her department believes that the Bolivians are criminals. To get more evidence, Moss and Gene invite Barry and Sally to dinner at their lakehouse. Note that Gene doesn’t know about Barry’s backstory as well.
During the conversation, Barry drops many hints that make Moss conclude that he’s the bad guy. In the night, she talks to him alone, and he pleads her to drop it all down since he wants to lead a happy life. However, Moss says that she’s going to take action. We are then left with gunshots, and in the next scene, Barry is seen lying down in the bed with Sally, pointing out that Moss is killed.
Barry Season 4 is premiering on April 16, 2023, and you can catch it on HBO MAX.
