The first official teaser of Barbie leaves an impact on the viewer as it grants us the first sneak peek into Barbieland, with Margot Robbie stepping into her heels as the first grown-up doll that girls couldn’t have enough of. The renowned blonde enigma, the symbol of most of our childhoods isn’t coming alone either!
Directed by Greta Gerwig, known for her outstanding female-led projects like Little Women and Lady Bird puts together a fabulous cast of exemplary actors like Ryan Gosling as Ken, with various other versions of the classic couple played by Sims Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Hari Nef and Issa Rae. Other joining the flamboyant live-action setting based on the titular fashion doll line by Mattel are America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Connor Swindells, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
The teaser trailer released on December 16, 2022, is ignited by the solemn 2001: A Space Odyssey Main Theme aka Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra, thus paying homage to the groundbreaking film as well. It then moves on to introduce Robbie’s doll persona as the eponymous character to have broken the streak of young girls buying baby dolls, the only kind available for a very long time.

The new and revised vision of the doll is an outgoing grown-up visage you can’t take your eyes off. And there you have it, the girls instantly toss aside their old possessions and give in to the Barbie fever. Switching up the pace, the teaser then showcases the stellar line-up gracing the film along with the eye-catching pink visions of the city inhabited by the dolls. Although not all the actors are pictured onscreen for the first teaser, Gosling, Ben-Adir, Gatwa, Rae and Liu pack in their captivating moves for the upcoming party you can’t miss out on.
