The runtime of the movie is 1 hour 38 minutes. The IMDb synopsis reads, “A delightfully modern Gen Z coming-of-age story that follows Kelsa, a confident high school girl who is trans, as she navigates through senior year.”

Amazon Prime Video’s Anything’s Possible Review Contains No Spoilers

In Anything’s Possible, we meet Kelsa (Eva Reign), a trans high school girl comfortable in her skin. Kelsa is a YouTuber and has two best friends – Chris and Em. Kelsa and Em develop a crush on the same boy Khal. But Khal likes Kelsa, and the duo becomes good friends. Their friendship turns into a relationship. Kelsa and Em are no more friends, and Khal loses his best friend because he’s dating a trans girl.

The love story has many beautiful moments. But it doesn’t take time for things to go out of hand.

Billy Porter’s Anything’s Possible attempts to show Kelsa’s identity not just as a trans girl but also as a human being. Kelsa feels she isn’t brave because she realised who she is, early in life. She doesn’t want anyone to save her. Hence, she is quite apprehensive about dating as she is worried someone will be with her because of who she is or just to be woke.

However, Khal loves Kelsa for who she is. He’s a kind, charming and understanding guy who just wants to be with her. If Kelsa’s comfort zones are making YouTube videos and learning about animals and birds, Khal uses Redditor to express himself. Khal also helps young people with their relationship problems on Reddit. Despite having not many similarities, the two fit into each other’s world perfectly.

When troubles kick in, Kelsa’s equation with many people gets affected. However, what doesn’t sit with her is everything trying to save her. Kelsa just wants to be treated like a person. She loses her cool when a friend organises a support rally for her without her permission. Similarly, when Khal tries to help her even when she doesn’t ask for it, Kelsa doesn’t feel okay.

Billy Porter shows how straight people often treat the LGBTQIA+ community as something to be saved. While all they want is to be treated normally like any normal human being. Porter’s approach to Khal and Kelsa’s love story is also very natural. You just want the two to work things out and be together.

Eva Reign gives an exceptionally stunning performance as Kelsa. There are scenes where she has to be loud to make people understand what she truly wants. But it feels like no one understands her words and can’t see beyond her identity. Eva stands out in those scenes. Abubakr Ali’s portrayal of Khal wins you in instantly.
