Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 3 Review: The third episode gives a bit more insight into Alya’s heart. Join us for an exclusive look at the details of this episode.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 2 Recap

This episode was challenging to watch due to the sheer amount of secondhand embarrassment. It starts with Kuze acting cutesy in front of Yuki, only to realize that Alya is also present. Alya is displeased with Kuze’s effortless attention towards Yuki and bluntly demands attention in Russian, which Kuze fully understands.
The highlight of the episode is the revelation that Yuki, Kuze’s seemingly proper childhood friend, is actually his blood-related sister and a massive otaku with a sadistic streak. At home, she is far from sophisticated, instead being eccentric and playful, especially enjoying toying with her brother and Alya. She pretends to be Kuze’s childhood friend at school for her own amusement.
Things get more complicated when Kuze and Yuki go shopping and notice Alya following them. Yuki, ever the prankster, adopts her aristocratic persona and hints that she slept with Kuze, wearing his shirt to imply their closeness.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 3 Review

Today’s episode dived a lot more into Alya’s past as we see how she used to be when she was younger. The episode opens up with a new addition to the cast, and it is none other than the elder sister of Alya, Masha. She can also speak fluent Japanese, and she inquires Alya about the boy she has started to like in her school. Alya obviously denies it but still thinks about Masachika and how she first met him.
Then we see a flashback where a very young Alya has trouble connecting with her peers while still living in Russia. She is a diligent girl who tries her best to do everything meticulously. But her seriousness is not shared by most, and thus, she gets in trouble when a group project comes her way. Since then, she has resolved to do things on her own, without relying on others, as she feels no one is serious enough.

This is also why she hates people who slack off on their work, and when she moves to Japan, she comes face to face with the biggest slacker yet, Masachika. He sleeps most of the time and does not put much work into anything. Her first impression of him was not at all good, but that changed for the better when he unexpectedly helped her out while preparing for their cultural festival.
In this episode, we see how difficult it is for an introvert like Alya to connect with others and relay her true feelings. She acts tough on the outside but she is very sweet and soft on the inside. Those who know her have figured out that Alya is just a big Tsundere. Thankfully, it is easy for Masachika to connect with Alya, who has a very outgoing personality even though he is an otaku.

Verdict
Perhaps the most unexpected twist is what transpired in the end when Masachika meets the elder sister of Alya. I smell a love triangle and a very dramatic turn of events.
Today’s episode gives us sudden developments that truly add more to the plot. I also liked that we got a glimpse of Masachika’s past, which seemed to be not so happy and complicated. Hopefully, we will explore more on these subjects soon.
