A Tourist’s Guide to Love Plot/Synopsis

Netflix’s description of the film reads, “Work brings an American travel executive to Vietnam, where a free-spirited tour guide helps open her eyes to a beautifully adventurous way of life.” Amanda Riley works at Tourista World Travel and has a seemingly happy life, with a partner of 5 years & a job that she actually enjoys. The only qualm is that after being together for so many years, she longs to take the next step & marry her boyfriend.

But it turns out her boyfriend has other plans in mind, which might even include moving to Ohio on his own. This change puts all the wedding plans on hold and definitely irks Amanda who has been looking forward to taking the next big step. Looking at her plight, her boss sends her to Vietnam on an assignment to get a perspective on the tourist industry there.

Excited to take her mind off her crashing love life, she is joined by a tour guide name Sinh, who is appointed to show her around the country. Right from the start the journey takes a different turn when Sinh persuades her to ditch the tourist itineraries and explore the beautiful country as a traveller, soaking in every new experience.

Fairly so, Amanda gets to see a different life than she had expected and starts to grow feelings for the tour guide, who shows her that life is much more than taking all the right steps, as prescribed by the world. However, she didn’t expect her boyfriend to also come to find her, to mend the relationship.

Torn between her past comfort and the new exciting adventure, Amanda has a choice to make before her trip ends. Shot in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hội An, Hanoi and Hà Giang, the trailer shows a glimpse of the beautiful landscapes of Vietnam which definitely adds to the whole experience of the film.
