A Shop For Killers Episode 5 Recap
After knocking Ji-an out in the last episode, episode 5 starts with Jeong-min talking to someone on the phone and promising to hand over murthehelp to them. The person on the other hand then asks him to kill Ji-an as well, after which Jeong-min taunts her about locking her under the school as a child and how it helped her get over her mutism. In the past, we see Jeong-min coming face to face with a bunch of dangerous men for successfully hacking murthehelp and eventually making them hack the IP address. Jeong-min does it successfully, resulting in his friend getting shot in the head.

As he recounts this story to Ji-an, we see him working for Jin-man and with one day left on his mission, he hurries off to come up with a plan to get into his computer. The plan, however, falls right into his lap after Jin-man asks him to look into his computer on his own. However, as he installs it onto his computer for remote access, Brother keeps an eye on him from downstairs. Back at home, he gets to see what Jin-man see as the latter logs into murthehelp. In the midst of this, however, he gets a surprise visit from Babylon and ends up striking up a deal.
In the present, Jeong-min opens the video that Brother had talked about but the video doesn’t contain anything. A cocky Jeong-min shows Ji-an the actual video, where Jeong-min used a recording of Ji-an’s to manipulate her uncle into committing suicide to save her. After listening to the entire thing, Ji-an reminds Jeong-min that he is an expendable part of Babylon’s plan and that considering the carnage taking place outside and that she’s the only Code Green alive, he should ask for her help to stay alive. He further reminds her that it’s only a matter of time before he will turn up dead.

Ji-an uses Jeong-min’s ego to attack him and bite his ear off before escaping and hiding in the basement. She eventually uses the things around her as a weapon to get rid of her nemesis. Outside, a fresh batch of mercenaries arrive to get rid of Ji-an. Inside, Ji-an traps Jeong-min and beats him to a pulp and Brother finds a fresh stack of guns kept inside the walls of the house. As he locks the house down, the mercenaries get into the living room thanks to the robot killer dog as Min-hye gets ready to face a fresh set of adversities.
Meanwhile, Ji-an goes through the handbook and faces the difficult choice of running away from the mess or facing it head-on with those fighting for her. Upstairs, Min-hye showcases her impressive skills and dexterity as she single-handedly fights a bunch of people… and a robot dog. As she reaches the end of her rope, however, Ji-an joins the fight and helps them escape after throwing two grenades towards the remaining mercenaries. Unfortunately, Kuma doesn’t die and a fight breaks down between Ji-an and him after he shoots Min-hye. Fortunately, before Kuma manages to cut her face open, Pasin makes an emotional comeback and helps the young girl out.
However, there’s no time for pleasantries as Bale is on his way… the man who killed her parents.
Epilogue

Bale sees Ji-an taking down the drones with a slingshot and sends his two trusted men, the ones who reached out to Jeong-min, to finish the job.
A Shop For Killers Episode 5 Review
The fifth episode has been an emotional and engaging watch and is a rounded experience all around. With some impressive action sequences that look great and feel real (again, Geum Hannah is excellent), the episode keeps things moving fast and doesn’t let on for a second. On the other hand, Ji-an finally accepting her past and present and jumping into the action after the emotional revelations surrounding her uncle’s death make you root for her even more. And now that she will face her parents’ killers, it’s going to be an even more interesting ride. Plus, we love watching the little glimpses of Lee Dong-wook! Although watching him more would’ve been even better, but you can’t ask for everything, unfortunately!

More strong insights from Ms. Sengupta. The action is riveting and robust. Yet the more we learn about Ji-an’s past through captivating flashbacks, the deeper the character development and narrative heft. While hooked from episode one, the series builds strength upon strength to offer much more than quality action. Surprised this is not showing up on many “best of the year” lists. Stellar.
