After going through 13 reasons to abandon the show, it has finally come to its last episode, where Ho and Mi-do make a sensible decision. There isn’t a resolution neither any romantic buildup, it is bittersweet and is acceptable. Mi-do and Ho move forward in life, leaving each other with a small hope within them to find each other, if they wish to.

A Love Other Than Yours Episode 14 Review
A Goodbye
The finale begins with Ho and Mi-do sitting in the church, where they initiated the one-month dating plan. They sit and admit their guilt and decide to part ways as they’ve caused enough damage to each other and others. They understand that they can no longer hold on to the childhood tragedy and keep it as a reason to stay when their feelings are already going away.

Two Years Later
The episode has a two-year time skip, and it shows where the two are now. Mi-do has become a lecturer, and she has created a whole new path. We then see her meeting Tae-seung, and the two share a kiss. This is pretty surprising because 2 years back, she ended things with him, but somehow it has developed.
On the other hand, Ho reunites with Su-a, and they kiss as well. Ho confesses that he came back to Korea because he couldn’t let go of Su-a’s feelings. Both the main leads have somehow moved on, but something doesn’t sit right. We have no details on how it all developed and whether the feelings are genuine and not a coping mechanism.

Namgung and Mi-do’s Final Beach Meeting
Ho and Mi-do finally meet at the beach after years, where Ho tells her that this will be the last meeting. Meaning, he will disappear from her and her family. It is a painful decision, but it feels necessary for him. Ho wants to build an independent future, and no longer wants Mi-do’s family to occupy his life. Likewise, Mi-do also wants to rely on herself and not depend on Ho’s help.
Their goodbye is not about denying what they meant to each other. Instead, it acknowledges that their history deserves to be remembered and their future is meant to be kickstarted.

An Open Ending
While we think Su-a and Tae-seung finally got their shot, an open ending is placed. He gives Mi-do a final gift before moving out, and it is an old comic book with a sketch of Mi-do sleeping in their classroom, back in those days. This shows that he did love her back in those days without any guilt or the feeling of responsibility. So without them both knowing about it, they indeed actually loved each other.
Mi-do’s closing voiceover makes the series end on a more open ending. She says that instead of waiting for the first snow, they should anticipate the spring. So does this mean they both still are waiting for the moment to reunite? Man, I’m confused.

A Bittersweet End to a Complicated Love Story
I appreciate that A Love Other Than Yours does not force a typical love story by making the two join or move on. It leaves us with another disturbing open ending. They did love each other; they probably still do, but they still have other people. This is crazy, but it is indeed happening in real life and is very relatable to many.

Nevertheless, the finale stays true to the drama’s central idea: love is not always about choosing someone but loving someone and still moving ahead. Perhaps Ho and Mi-do were never meant to be each other’s final destination. They were simply an important part of each other’s journey. Yet toxic to other people.
