Yes, the romance is powered by electricity. Literally!

Premiering on Netflix on October 9, the series stars Kim Young-kwang as a chaebol heir with an artificial heart and Chae Soo-bin as a woman who develops mysterious electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child.
These two have to figure out their respective problems while possibly “accidentally” falling in love.
Take Charge of My Heart Release Date
Take Charge of My Heart premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2026. The Korean romantic comedy revolves around an unusual relationship between Baek Ho-rang and Na Bo-bae, two people whose lives collide because of a strange coincidence.
One has electricity; the other needs it to remain alive!
What Is Take Charge of My Heart About?
The story follows Na Bo-bae, a woman who has been living with an inconvenient “power”. After being struck by lightning as a child, Bo-bae develops mysterious electrical powers. Her touch can generate electricity strong enough to hurt people. Forcing her to keep distance from others.
Then she meets Baek Ho-rang, a wealthy heir who appears to have the sort of polished, cool exterior expected from a wealthy K-drama heir, but the difference between him and others who have entered into the rom-com world is that he has an artificial heart and the heart is running out of battery.
The two first cross paths, and Bo-bae discovers that her electricity does not affect Ho-rang. For someone who has spent years being scared to touch people, this is perhaps a miracle. She thinks that she has found her “human rubber glove” and tries to talk to him, but Ho-rang runs away
Why Does Baek Ho-rang Need Na Bo-bae?
Things become complicated when Ho-rang goes to the hospital for surgery to replace his artificial heart’s battery with a high-power one. A storm causes a blackout during the surgery, and Ho-rang’s new battery runs low, recharging only when Bo-bae is near him.
And suddenly, the woman who has spent her entire life avoiding physical contact becomes one person Ho-rang desperately needs to stay alive. He needs her help for three months. Netflix writes, “Ho-rang needs her to keep his heart going for three months until he can receive another surgery, especially so he can take over TS Group. Meanwhile, Bo-bae has three months until her writer contract is up, facing the predicament of having to write a good romance by then, even though she has never been able to date anyone due to her electric touch.”

In exchange for Ho-rang fulfilling her “romance bucket list”, he offers Bo-bae a deal to charge him through touch.
Take Charge of My Heart Cast
Chae Soo-bin plays Na Bo-bae, the female lead whose superpower has turned physical affection into something she must avoid. She is a writer who needs to produce a good romance despite having never actually experienced it.
Kim Young-kwang plays Baek Ho-rang, a third-generation chaebol heir and executive director at one of the nation’s top resorts whose artificial heart has become the biggest complication in his life.
The series puts a classic rom-com dynamic through a decidedly unusual sci-fi filter with one person being terrified of touching other people, while the other person desperately needs it to stay alive.
What Makes Take Charge of My Heart Different?
There is something unusually funny about the show’s central irony, as Bo-bae has spent her life thinking her electricity makes intimacy impossible- in fact, it hurts others; while Ho-rang’s artificial heart makes the electricity necessary.
This gives the premise a surprisingly sweet little emotional hook below all the sparks and chaebol drama. Bo-bae is not simply being asked to become someone’s love interest. Something she has always considered strange or isolating about herself suddenly becomes something valuable.
We can perhaps expect the emotional complications to arrive from time to time after the contract begins.
Take Charge of My Heart: What to Expect?
At its core, Take Charge of My Heart looks like a romantic comedy about two people who are forced into being close because of circumstances neither of them really asked for.
There are, however, two people who are in need of each other in their lives, and they do it through a contract. If Take Charge of My Heart follows the usual romantic-comedy laws, the deadline is probably going to feel extremely short.
Take Charge of My Heart premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2026.
