Jae-In Stands By Pi-O

Pi-o asks Jeong-yo if he wishes to play the “Nemesis” musical piece, which, of course, Jeong-yo declines. He believes that Pi-O betrayed him in the past and purposely uses it to prevent Pi-O from playing at the concert. Jae-in seems to be the only one understanding Pi-o at the moment and does all her work to ensure he is still backed up.

While Pi-O struggles professionally, Jae-In discovers that her mother wants to cancel his contract following his recent failures. She steps in and argues with the managers, telling them that they are supposed to stick with the artists during the hard time.

Jeong-Yo Finally Starts Doubting Himself

Jae-In’s decision to tell Jeong-Yo about Pi-O’s years of searching for him becomes one of the episode’s most important moments. Pi-O has always wished for Jeong-Yo to return and has spent years trying to find him. Jeong-yo pretends to not believe what she’s saying but deep down he knows that it is the truth.

He even stops his plan to publicly shame Pi-o, and his revenge plan slowly cracks. After having a conversation with Mr. Kang, he understands that art and the person behind it are extremely different, and one mustn’t use one to fulfill their revenge.

Confession

The core of the episode is the performance of Pi-o. Pi-o turns up to the concert regardless of Jeong-yo rejecting him. Eventually Jeong-yo gives in, and Pi-o plays the piece extraordinarily. Family members and those closest to them are moved to tears, while even Jeong-Yo finally acknowledges Pi-O’s ability by lifting his hands high in the air, making the crowd cheer for them. But this happiness doesn’t last long.

Pi-O takes the mic and, like an annoying person, confesses to kidnapping Jeong-Yo back in 2017. Pi-o is arrested while his mother leaves the room in a panic. But the truth soon comes out. Jeong-yo hears the recording of Pi-o and the kidnapper, and learns that it was never him who ordered it. It was Pi-o’s mother. Jeong-yo feels miserable for judging his friend.

Troubling End

Jeong-yo confronts Pi-o regarding the kidnapping, and the latter lets out the stupidest line. He tells Jeong-yo that even if he didn’t order the kidnapping, he wanted Jeong-yo gone from his life. This makes their already complicated friendship more complicated. If he wanted Jeong-yo out of his life, then why did he search for him for years? Why did Pi-O try to give Jeong-yo his life back?

The episode ends with Mr. Kang conducting Mozart’s final piece before collapsing, while Pi-O’s mother is imprisoned and tells her son that she is finally letting him go.

Episode 11 beautifully combines music with emotional conflict, refusing to give us an easy end between Pi-O and Jeong-Yo. Their friendship may still exist beneath all the pain, but whether they will throw away all that ego and make music together is a story for another day.
