Physical: 100 Italy Review: Based on the massively popular South Korean reality series, this Italian spin-off sees athletes from different sporting backgrounds, professions and walks of life compete against each other in a showcase of strength, endurance, stamina, agility and mental endurance. The series, although much like its counterparts, tries to give itself a distinct identity thanks to its contestants and sporting culture.
The series has released the first three episodes of the show, which in itself is quite arresting and leaves viewers on the edge of their seats with the fierce sporting competition among the contestants. More episodes will be released weekly, so although we don’t get the full scope of the show yet, the start is quite engaging regardless.

Physical 100: Italy Review
A Familiar Formula With an Italian Identity
Physical: 100 has always known what the viewers want, and the series plays to its strengths. Instead of wasting time with unnecessary drama, it chooses to focus on delivering a story of determination and strength, leaning into the contestants’ strengths and weaknesses and giving everyone a chance to prove themselves. While it’s not always an equal opportunity, there’s merit to giving everyone a challenge that they might not be the best at to see what they do with the opportunity.
That was always one of the best things about the series from the start. The contestants range from elite athletes to social media stars, all celebrities in their own right. There are several well-known faces in the show who will leave viewers stumped, but more than that, it’s the amount of dedication that these people have given to their sport that makes it such a memorable watch.

We are also constantly reminded of the fact that an impressive body doesn’t always translate to the best competitor. With the varied challenges they have to face, each contestant has to constantly prove themselves, balancing the different elements to the best of their abilities and coming out strong in the end.
The Contestants Are the Real Entertainment
The best part about any Physical: 100 show is the contestants. Each with their unique talents and abilities, it’s always fun to watch these amazing people give it their all for their sport. The balance between well-known and lesser-known personalities makes the series a very entertaining watch. It gives viewers a chance to learn about different people and see how they fare in the different challenges that they have to face.
The Challenges Keep the Stakes High

But, of course, what remains memorable about Physical: 100 are the challenges that the competitors have to face in every episode. Most of the first three episodes feature challenges that are similar to the other iterations, but they remain ever-so entertaining. The challenges aren’t repetitive and keep the spirit of the game alive thanks to the variety. They have to constantly adapt to the changing situation around them while competing against those who might sometimes be stronger than them. The variety gives the show momentum and keeps things moving even when the challenges can feel obvious. Even if you can predict the structure of the challenge, the competition still feels fresh.
Where Physical 100: Italy Falls Short

Unfortunately for this show, the format has become unsurprising at this point. While the series does a good job with the competitors, it can’t match the sheer adrenaline rush that viewers felt while watching the first Physical: 100 episode in 2023. Every season after that was fine, but it never reached that peak because it’s inherently obvious and, thus, unsurprising. The editing and structure of the episodes are also similar to the other franchises, building to a moment of suspense before being left on a cliffhanger at the end of the episode. Moreover, the Italian version felt just a bit melodramatic, which took away from the entertainment factor.
Final Thoughts

In the end, the season is for anyone who enjoys the format and the spirit of competition and will leave you entertained throughout. While the show doesn’t have anything new, it’s the competitors themselves who bring most of the surprises and the decisions they make along the way add to the intrigue. Overall, it’s enjoyable, but doesn’t quite catch the same excitement as the first time.
