Phantom Lawyer Episode 10 Review

What happens after Yi-rang and Na-hyun team up?

This episode begins with the part where both the leads finally team up to handle their cases from now on. Yi-rang is delighted by the fact that he will now work with someone like Na-hyun. This becomes clear by the way he brushes off their nameplate. Na-hyun also becomes supportive of whatever Yi-rang does within the episode and tries to understand his condition, where he gets possessed with an open mind.

When the next ghost came, Na-hyun became an important person to handle Yi-rang’s situation. She also helps out with the case, even though she realises just how difficult it is for them to actually win.

What kind of ghost visited after this time?

The challenging aspect of the new ghost is the fact that he is an older man who suffered from dementia before he passed away. Dong-sik was a renowned shoemaker who built a fortune with his business. He was also helped by his wife, who made the shoe designs. However, there was another person who was an important part of their company.

Thus, a decision to honour her created a rift with their son, and now that Dong-sik has passed away, the situation just worsens. It becomes Dong-sik’s wife’s duty to keep his request and fight their own son legally with the help of Yi-rang. And to achieve success, Yi-rang gets help from Dong-sik, who remembers nothing most of the time.

What is the theme of this episode?

The primary theme of this episode is love, and it does not represent only the main leads of the story. Even the ghost Dong-sik shares a very heartfelt past with his wife, and it definitely gives the audience a timeless sense of romance. Even when Dong-sik could not remember his wife, he still made shoes for her because somewhere in his heart, he knew he was creating something for his beloved.

Later, Yi-rang and Na-hyun also come a lot closer, where we see a clear sign of a budding romance between them. There were many instances where Na-hyun genuinely cared for Yi-rang and even became very nervous when she could not find him.

How was the ending?

The ending revealed a massive twist that might come off as unexpected to many. Things also ended on a comic note because Yi-rang again got possessed at a very bad time. Thus, the case was not solved in this episode, and the audience will have to wait until next week to find out what will happen.

What worked and what did not?

This episode was definitely a lot more focused on the romance element, which the series severely lacked in its earlier episodes. Thus, the relationship between Yi-rang and Na-hyun definitely felt much better. Now, a proper relationship forming between them becomes a possible scenario.

The twist towards the end was something that was not very shocking. The way the episode portrayed certain characters, the revelation felt like a natural outcome.
