Phantom Lawyer Episode 3 Recap

This episode begins, and we see Na-hyeon visiting the grave of someone who must have been a very close friend of hers. Later, we see that because of her inability to secure evidence, Na-hyeon is being demoted by her boss, Do-kyung. She did not fight this and readily accepted being sent to another office. Here, it gets revealed that Do-kyung is a very insecure son of a very successful father who only cares about his position. This revelation definitely helps us to realise why Do-kyung will later become a villain.

After this, we see Yi-rang making a contract with the new ghost with whom he will have to work. She is a high schooler and has no memory of herself. Just at that moment, the priest comes in, and both Yi-rang and the priest discuss what they can do to locate this new ghost’s identity. That is when Yi-rang’s brother-in-law walks in and becomes convinced that there is something really wrong with Yi-rang. Yi-rang then reveals his condition of being able to see and interact with the ghost to his brother-in-law, who also believes him.

After this, Yi-rang draws a picture of the female ghost so that he can finally locate her. On the other hand, Yi-rang’s mother requests her son-in-law to look after her son and tell her what happens from time to time. As the ghost can really dance and sing like an idol, Yi-rang tries to locate her through dance classes. But it becomes very difficult for him to do so because there are many classes like that in Korea. Here, the ghost becomes very sad because she realises that now that she’s dead, she will not be able to enjoy dancing anymore like a normal human.

Hence, to cheer her up, Yi-rang makes food and instantly gets possessed by her. His family also realises that, and his mother helps the ghost have the meal without saying anything. Finally, Yi-rang finds out that the ghost was actually called Loanne, a very talented trainee who was even under contract with a company. However, he gets to know that she killed herself when she was dropped from her debut stage because she could not work with others. The truth is actually far from that, as she was pushed from the terrace and killed by someone.

Coincidentally, Na-hyeon is also working on the same case, but from the CEO of the company’s side. The CEO claims that Loanne killed herself and wishes to stop fans from blaming the company for it. However, even Na-hyeon gets suspicious that there might be a murder involved. In the end, we see that the songwriter on whom Loanne had a crush might be the one who actually killed her to get her songs.

I like today’s episode, especially the parts where Yi-rang acted as the female ghost, Loanne. He really did a phenomenal job of depicting someone who has been possessed. It was funny, but at the same time very believable. Other than that, we’re also seeing that the romance will start soon, which will definitely give this story a new angle.
