One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 2 Review: Just Accept The Animation

The second episode of the highly anticipated One Punch Man Season 3 is here, and it is decent. Let’s see how it turned out.

One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 1 Recap

As the episode begins, the growing menace of the Monster Association quickly takes centre stage. The Hero Association is deeply concerned that the Hero Hunter may continue targeting more heroes, and they decide that he must be stopped at any cost. In response, an emergency alert is issued as preparations begin to counter the looming threat. Adding to their worries is the urgent mission to rescue a sponsor’s kidnapped son, a task that hero Sekingal takes charge of leading.

However, the heroes face a major obstacle: they still don’t know where the enemy’s base is located. Child Emperor works tirelessly to uncover this information, while Atomic Samurai is also briefed on the escalating crisis. It’s clear that luck is not on the Hero Association’s side. Meanwhile, Saitama spends his time casually playing video games at home with his new acquaintances. Fubuki arrives unexpectedly and is surprised to see several top-ranked heroes hanging out with him. The group ends up holding an informal discussion about their plans for the future.

During the conversation, Saitama becomes annoyed that despite Garou hunting down so many heroes, he still hasn’t come after him. He assumes it’s because of his unflattering hero name, “Caped Baldy,” which only adds to his frustration. The episode then shifts focus to Garou, who has been taken in by the Monster Association, the same group that saved him in the previous season. To everyone’s surprise, the monsters go so far as to offer Garou the position of their leader.

One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 2 Review

This episode again begins on a tense note because of the situation surrounding the monster association. Many people, out of fear, are now siding with monsters, coming up with solutions like human sacrifices, so that the monsters do not target them. However, amongst them, Garo looks like the only normal person.

He understands how humanity can become very worried about an impending problem if they’re pushed to a corner, and that is why he does not really feel relatable with humans right now. We later see him go to a diner to have a meal. Hilariously, Saitama is also at the same Diner, and after eating, he realises that he has not brought his wallet. A very funny situation happens in this section where Fubuki comes to join Saitama, and Saitama literally dines and dashes, putting the tab on Fubuki.  

However, the main problem arises when 2 villains come to Garo to see what he is up to. When they witness Garo protecting a child, they berate him for showing mercy and literally ask him to kill the child to prove that he is worthy to be a monster. This is a pretty problematic situation, as to showcase that he is willing to be evil, Garo must do as the monster says, but he also cannot lose his humanity and kill the child, as he has been warm-hearted from the very beginning.

Verdict

Today’s episode was again good narrative-wise, but the animation is absolutely not up to the mark. Now it is clear that we will not get a very good animation throughout the season, and we will have to live with that because we do not have any other choice.
