Same Day With Someone Review
The movie opens with an airheaded rich girl, Maysa, who, by the grace of God, has received everything that she has ever wanted in life. Her life is picture perfect, and it will be an understatement to say that it seems too unrealistic at times. The film begins a bit too goofy with the protagonist acting too happy-go-lucky to be likeable, but that changes when she genuinely starts to face one of the worst days ever.
You see, her perfect day gets ruined when, while handling some very important guests, the priceless artefact that she is supposed to protect gets broken. Not only that, her longtime boyfriend, with whom she planned to get married soon, also broke up with her on the very same day, and only her mentor, Ben, remains by her side. In such a situation, she drunkenly makes a wish, and now the bad day she wanted to forget so much, constantly repeats itself, and she doesn’t know what to do anymore.

At first, Maysa decides to handle everything on her own, but when things become too much for her, she finally asks Ben for help. The movie definitely starts as a fantasy comedy, but it also has a slow-burning romance that unfolds in the background. What I really enjoyed was the twist midway, where instead of the usual single victim, we got two characters trapped in the time loop. It was an unexpected direction for the genre, and surprisingly enough, one handles this precarious situation much better than the other.

The most prominent aspect of this movie is the fashion choices of the actress, as she rocks some really beautiful dresses and looks. The cinematography is also very nice, and it complements the fashion-forward vibe of the movie. But the real standout was the actress, who gave her all in a truly committed performance. Not just her, but even her love interest and the supporting characters did a pretty good job.

However, the issue with this film is that it literally reveals its true motive in the last 20 minutes of the conclusion. This is why the final twist seems absolutely abrupt, as the story never really developed a proper setup or background for it. It was indeed a nice message, but I believe the film goes too far with its comedy, stalls its romantic arc, and postpones the development of its central theme.

Much of the humour also came off as forced, and most of it didn’t really work. It was loud, and the characters gave very exaggerated reactions to make things comical, but the punches became too silly to actually evoke genuine laughter. The second half of the film is much stronger than the first half, and the conclusion is even better.

Verdict
All in all, this was a nice and entertaining film that might fail to impart a very deep message convincingly towards the end, but it still manages to keep viewers engaged. The actors do a pretty good job in their roles, and the storyline also ensures the audience has a delightful watch.
