The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Episode 9 Recap
The episode opens with Rintaro heading to school in a foul mood, his distracted state making his glare seem even more intimidating. While his classmates keep their distance, his close friends show genuine concern. Still, Saku reassures them, saying that if Rintaro truly needs help, he’ll open up on his own. Meanwhile, Rintaro wrestles with his confusing feelings toward Waguri, unsure of how to handle them. Just then, his friends propose a casual hangout at Rintaro’s house, a place none of them have ever been.
Rintaro hesitates, since his home carries painful memories. In the past, he was teased because his tough exterior didn’t seem to fit with the fact that his family owned a cake shop. Embarrassed, he never invited anyone over. This time, however, he chooses to trust his new friends and finally agrees. What makes the gathering even more significant is that Waguri and Subaru also join the visit. Rintaro’s mother warmly welcomes everyone and even serves them lunch, turning the day into a cheerful, bustling occasion.

During this get-together, Rintaro opens up about the bullying he endured as a child and explains the reason behind his dyed hair and piercings. The scene also emphasises the deep, unwavering bond he shares with his mother.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Episode 10 Review

This episode starts with a study group date where Rintaro, his guy friends from Chidori, and female friends from Kikyo all gather at a diner and decide to eat and study. Here, Rintaro showcases growth by being willing to study on his own so that he does not have to rely on Waguri as much. Many things happen in this meetup. Subaru is far more social now than she has ever been. She even asks Saku for help with her studies, and an apparent closeness between these two arises. In this segment, we also get some comedy as it becomes clear that even though Saku is very good at studies, he sucks at teaching others.

Needless to say, this study date went very well, and both Usami and Rintaro passed their test. However, now that exams are over, it is time for summer break, and while returning from school, Rintaro’s group sees Waguri’s group from a distance. At this point, it is set in stone that Rintaro is smitten by Waguri, and he cannot even look away from her. Rintaro’s pining look is seen by Usami, and he outright asks Rintaro about his feelings, and Rintaro literally breaks down and accepts it.
Later, Rintaro and his friends go bowling, and here, again, Rintaro becomes absolutely devastated after being found out. In this segment, Rintaro has a heart-to-heart conversation with Yorita, who patiently answers all his questions, even though he himself has no experience in dating.

Verdict
Today’s episode was again very healing, as it had some really nice friendship moments between all the characters. Rintaro has a good circle of friends and they are always there to help him out whenever he feels conflicted about himself or his heart.
