Rivers of Fate Review
Everything and everyone in Netflix’s newest crime-thriller series is connected in one way or another. Triggered by Janalice’s abduction by a sex trafficking ring, the series traces her journey from slavery to freedom, while following Mariangel’s journey as she tries to find the men responsible for the murder of her family. Connecting them is river pirate Preá, who is responsible for both the murder of Mariangel’s family as well as Janalice’s abduction.

The series is a shocking and engaging watch that will get under your skin. It moves swiftly, weaving the different threads of the series together and bringing forth the corruption that exists in Brazil. It’s an eye-opening watch, where goodness is not a trait that is usually found. Every minute of the series is a quest for survival in one way or another, and you can’t help but root for the victims in this awful situation where the system is rigged to see you fall.

Rivers of Fate surprisingly showcases the worst and best of humanity. While Mariangel’s quest for vengeance and to eventually rescue Janalice is praiseworthy, other characters will leave you enraged. With the victims becoming a bit muddled and the bodies piling up, you can’t help but ask who the real victim here is. The smallest of characters in the series leaves such a visceral and lasting effect on us that it’s hard not to take the situations personally. While in other shows, supporting characters might feel burdensome, in this Netflix show, these characters don’t overstay their welcome.

It’s ultimately a heartbreaking watch that leaves us a bit hopeless. Thankfully, there’s a happy ending, one that questions what true freedom is and who our real families are. If you enjoy human stories about the realities of crime-infested places, then you will love this Netflix show. It’s a short, quick watch that leaves a lasting impact, not just by the story but also with the performances. Everyone delivers their all into their characters, bringing out the fear, anger, helplessness and anguish and leaving us thoroughly engaged.
Final Thoughts

Rivers of Fate is an engaging watch that tells a moving story well. It’s a story about revenge and finding your freedom, and the series does a fantastic job of bringing it to our screens.
