Poker Face Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
The episode opens with Kendall animatedly talking about a TV, trying to sell it to an elderly gentleman, but is unsuccessful in that attempt and is eventually called to the manager’s office. He’s interested in script-writing, and his boss encourages him to follow his passions. However, he’s sceptical and a bit scared to take the plunge and is then promptly fired. Frustrated at the betrayal, he helps a shoplifter steal a bunch of TVs and then has a drink with him later to vent his frustrations.
His new “friend” eventually propositions them to rob the store together, and although confused at first, Kendall decides to give Juice a chance. The two watch a ton of heist movies together while Kendall gives him all the information that he will need to pull off a big robbery. On the night of, Kendall is shocked to find over $200,000 in the safe and loots it all, but is caught by Bill. But, before he can explain, Juice shoots him dead and hopes that the police think Bill took off with the money.

We then cut to Charlie, who is now working in food delivery and ends up making one trip to SuperSave and meeting Bill. The two immediately hit it off, and after several deliveries over the course of a few days, Bill asks Charlie out on a date. The next morning, she meets Randall in the store and asks him for advice on what to give Bill, since it’s his birthday on top of their date, and after some leg pulling, he ends up helping her pick something.
That night, Bill is giddy about Charlie’s gift and she, too, seems to be really into him and his thoughtful and romantic dinner plan. They talk about different things, including his friendship with Kendall, and he mentions that he fired him, hoping that he would finally try his hand at scriptwriting seriously. They spend a romantic night together, promising to meet again soon.

The next morning, however, Charlie is shocked to see reporters and police outside the SuperSave, saying that Bill stole money and ran off. Elsewhere, Juice tells Kendall that he hid Bill in the Santa costume, hoping that it’ll give them enough time to run off. Unfortunately for Kendall, though, he has to go back to the store to get the money that he has hidden in his locker. He runs into Charlie, who tells him how fond Bill is of him and his writing.

Unfortunately, Charlie ends up finding Bill’s body and starts investigating his death when some odd things come up during her chat with the police. Elsewhere, Kendall and Juice get into a fight, resulting in the former accidentally killing Juice. That night, Charlie hides inside the SuperStore and starts investigating when everyone clears out. She breaks into Kendall’s safe and finds the money stashed inside, and he arrives just in time to hold her at gunpoint. However, Charlie has already pushed the device that Bill had previously shown her, but in the midst of this, a half-dead Juice stumbles into the store with a machine gun, firing erratically.
Juice eventually dies on his own, and as Kendall tries to run away, the police get there to arrest him… right out of a classic action movie.
Poker Face Season 2 Episode 7 Review

The crime-romance mashup was a fun addition in this season’s Poker Face, and I found it thoroughly entertaining, giving me quite a few chuckles. It’s a surface-level exploration of either genre that ends too early, but it’s entertaining regardless. I liked the nods to different movies and enjoyed Charlie’s short romance with Bill. Just sad that the poor guy died out of someone else’s greed. I guess I would’ve enjoyed maybe a somewhat longer episode for this one, but I can’t say that I am not satisfied with what we got.
