Poker Face Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

The episode starts with a young overachieving child who has to be great at everything. However, she fumbles during the spelling bee section when she is given “abracadabra” as the word and is even more incensed when another student wins it. Out to ensure a sure-shot chance of winning the talent show, she Googles ways to destroy her rival’s self-esteem. She stalks him and finds out about his act for the talent show and proceeds to take an embarrassing picture of Elijah from his father’s computer at the custodian’s office, but leaves behind a button on her dress accidentally.

At the talent show, Elijah makes a dash for the projector after Stephanie threatens him about the picture and deletes it just in the nick of time. However, a cunning Stephanie had sabotaged his equipment and diverted his attention to the picture, resulting in his poor mouse dying. It’s an absolute bloodbath that Stephanie takes great pleasure in watching.

Elsewhere, Charlie takes a job at the school and finds herself getting used to its theatrics, especially gelling with the school principal, Dr Hamm. However, she does strike up a friendship with another employee, J.B., who happens to be Elijah’s father. He tells her about the spelling bee and the talent show the next day, and J.B. seems to be excited to see his young son coming out of his shell. However, after the fiasco, Elijah leaves in utter horror, as do the other kids.

J.B. shares how the other parents are starting a petition to expel Elijah and expresses concerns that someone tried to sabotage him. Although she doesn’t believe that there’s anything diabolical happening, she finds something amiss with Stephanie’s reactions, especially when she notices the missing button on her dress. She goes to meet Stephanie at the playground, and her behaviour brings up red flags. Charlie confronts the little girl with the facts and asks her to do the right thing, but Stephanie refuses and eats the button!

Charlie goes around trying to find evidence against Stephanie while the latter takes videos of Charlie snooping around. She finds Elijah’s baby picture on the school computer and realises what Stephanie did. But just then, she gets called to Dr Hamm’s office, wherein she almost gets fired but brings up Stephanie sabotaging Elijah. Hamm suddenly has a change of heart and tells her to go to a bathroom downstairs.

In the bathroom, Charlie finds out that Stephanie had caught Hamm stealing from petty cash and then gambling, and she has been blackmailing her with it. Unfortunately for them, Stephanie has been listening to their conversations from the other stall and gloats about defeating them. However, Charlie reminds her to be humble, and if she keeps this up, she will never have any friends. However, Stephanie seems unbothered.

Charlie decides to quit while she’s ahead and speaks to Ms Dee while feeding the gerbils. She then comes up with an idea to help Elijah and brings another gerbil to the class as Joseph. It makes all the kids extremely happy, and then welcomes Elijah back with open arms. This leaves Stephanie to act out in frustration. Eventually, the other kids give him all their gold stars, which results in Elijah having more stars than Stephanie. She runs out and goes to petty cash, steals the money and tries to frame J.B., but Charlie is there to take the picture.

She threatens to stop the reign of terror or else she will send the picture to every elite boarding school as well as her parents, leaving Stephanie stumped. Elijah, meanwhile, makes friends, Hamm gives up her gambling addiction, and Stephanie deletes all the blackmail material. Charlie finds herself back on the road, but not before she finds a gold star from Stephanie promising to find her when she is older. Charlie makes a mad dash for the exit!

Poker Face Season 2 Episode 6: Eva Jade Halford

What a hilarious episode to watch, complete with fantastic performances from the young actors and a completely plausible situation that leaves everyone stunned. Young Eva Jade Halford is diabolical as Stephanie and makes every minute worth watching. The storyline flows seamlessly from start to end and will leave viewers cackling at the absurdity.

It also highlights how ruthless children can be, but is surprisingly tender at the same time, highlighting that children test boundaries because they are unsure of what the future holds for them. Of course, that’s not the case for Stephanie, but you know, you can’t win them all. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one, especially Charlie being “shoot” scared of a child in the end. It’s hilarious.
