Khauf Ending Explained
The story starts with Madhu, who has moved from Gwalior to Delhi to restart her life. Helping her out in a new city is her boyfriend, and after giving an interview, she tries to find new accommodation. Her close friend, Bela, tells her about a cheap hostel that she can move into to have her own place, and after checking out the room, she decides to move in. Along with her boyfriend, she also becomes acquainted with a psychiatrist who helps her get settled.
However, soon, she starts hearing noises along with getting harassed by the other girls, who threaten her to leave the room. Although Madhu suspects that the women are behind the eerie situations, it soon becomes apparent that something else is happening around her. Meanwhile, we also learn that Nikki, Rima, Lana and Komal refuse to leave the hostel and fear for their lives.
Madhu soon starts to realise that she is losing time as more and more odd things take place. She desperately tries to understand, and the doctor tells her that she must be hallucinating because of her past trauma. However, soon she realises that there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

What happened to Madhu?
Back when she studied in college in Gwalior, Madhu was raped by man and his friends. As it turns out, that man was Nakul, Bela’s current fiancé. Although she struggles with this information and it takes her a long time to believe it, she is left sure when Nakul abducts her and tries to hurt her with his friends after she confesses to going to the police. Unfortunately for the men, Madhu, possessed and suddenly having inhuman strength, is able to overcome the other two men and kill them mercilessly. Nakul is the only one who gets away.
It is later revealed that Nakul was desperately in love with Madhu, who didn’t give him any attention because of her strict household. However, Nakul is overcome with desperation when she refuses to speak to him and forces her to acknowledge his existence by assaulting her.

What happened at the hostel?
In Khauf episode 7, we learn that someone in the woods frequently teased the women in the hostel while they were walking down the alley. They later learn that it’s one of the young caretakers, Jeeva, who immediately resorts to violence when the women confront him. His archaic and dangerous views about women make him incensed with anger as he continues to harass them. However, it all comes to a head when he comes into the hostel on New Year’s and attacks them when no one is around. A scuffle ensues, and one of the girls hits him with a metal rod.
However, this aggravates him even more, and he starts to say filthy things that he believes women should face. Hearing this, Rima lights him on fire, and he eventually succumbs to his injuries. Just then, the warden and her friend, Ilu, a police officer, arrive at the hostel, and the girls realise that the police officer is Jeeva’s mother. They desperately try to hide their crimes as they make their way up and hide the body in a trunk in Anu’s room, which Madhu moves into later on.
It’s Jeeva’s spirit that haunts those responsible for his death, and he possesses Madhu to fulfil his wish.

What happens in the Khauf finale episode?
In the last episode, a fight ensues between the spirit and everyone in the hostel. All the women band together to get rid of the spirit possessing Madhu while also delivering Rima’s baby. The fight leaves everyone gravely injured, but when Bhalla makes a sudden appearance, the spirit leaves Madhu and possesses him. They fight once more, and just when he is about to kill Rima and the others, Madhu rushes in and beheads him. Things seemingly go back to normal, and everyone is left thankful for being alive.
Some time later, we see Nakul and Bela getting married. The police show up for his friends’ murders to get some information, and Bela puts the blame on Madhu for being jealous and a stalker. It’s clear that she didn’t believe her friend’s accusations and has chosen to side with a violent man. However, Nakul starts to see apparitions around him, which leaves him extremely scared and confused. Alone in his room, he refuses to come down on Bela’s request and suddenly sees a ghostly Madhu in front of him, even though the real Madhu is in the hospital tending to an injured Arun. We eventually see Nakul falling down the building to his death.
In the last scene, we see a ghostly sound coming towards Madhu, and it becomes clear that Jeeva is still possessing Madhu and was responsible for Nakul’s death. But the question remains as to whether he will try to kill the four women from the hostel.
