Korean Movies Releasing in January 2025: The Korean film industry has given us some great hits this year; from Exhuma to Officer Black Belt, the movies this year have been one entertainer after the other. And it looks like the New Year is going, to begin with some more new hits that are ready to give us an unforgettable start to 2025. Forbidden Fairytale

We begin this year with a rom-com which is worth going to the theatres for. Bringing a hilarious and entertaining plot that is simply hard to resist, this film is everything that you need to keep you entertained until the end. And with the cast involved in the show, you better prepare for a laughing session that will make you cry.

Directed by Lee Jong-seok, the film stars Sung Dong-il, Choi Si-won, Park Ji-hyun, Jang Do-yeong, and other cast members. The plot follows a children’s story writer who crashes into the CEO of an adult web novel publishing house and is now forced to work for him. However, she finds herself becoming a sensation overnight and garnering the attention of many.

Crypto Man

Song Jae-rim’s posthumous film is based on a true story and has many reasons why this is sure to capture your attention. The film brings the intriguing story of the cryptocurrency crash that shook the world and explores the start-up ventures and investments, and the daily ups and downs of this world.

Directed by Haeri Hyun, the film stars Song Jae-rim, Ahn Woo-yeon, So Hee-jung, and other cast members. The plot follows a young man who observes the loopholes in a government scheme and makes use of it to get rich overnight by creating a cryptocurrency that achieves the highest performance ever.

Hitman 2

The popular action comedy film that had us captivated returns with a second instalment and we are excited for this one! Agent Jun is back with more Webtoon arts and stories that once again get him into trouble, and this time he is as ready as ever. The film is ready to leave you with a fulfilling experience like never before.

Directed by Choi Won-seop, the film stars Kwon Sang-woo, Jung Joon-ho, Lee Yi-kyung, Hwang Woo-seul-hye, Kim Sung-oh, Lee Ji-won and other cast members. Webtoon artist and secret agent Jun is back to begin the second chapter of his story which comes with more chaos and action!

Dark Nuns

Song Hye-kyo is back with another banger and we are ready for this supernatural horror thriller that is sure to push us to the edge of our seats. This intense horror film brings a new look at exorcism as we see the dark side of this world that is driven by religion and forces that leave you asking for more.

Directed by Kwon Hyeok-jae, the film stars Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Jin-wook, Moon Woo-jin, and other cast members. The plot follows a boy who has been possessed by evil and a nun who takes it upon herself to save the boy. However, she is faced with a choice, either take the help of a psychiatrist or have exorcism performed on the boy.

Ghost Cop

Next, we have a comedy fantasy film that is sure to attract your attention with its plot and talented cast. The film looks to be the heartwarming kind so be prepared to have your hearts melted because this film has a lighthearted yet warm vibe to it.

Directed by Kim Young-joon, the film stars Shin Hyun-joon, Kim Soo-mi, Jung Joon-ho and other cast members. The plot follows a cop who suddenly gains supernatural powers after getting struck by lighting. With this begins his journey to becoming a better cop and a better father to his daughter with whom he has a strained relationship.

Secret: Untold Melody

Finally, we have a remake of the Taiwanese film titled Secret, a musical romance fantasy that brings an interesting concept. This film is entertaining in its own way and while it may not stand out as a banger, it is soft and beautifully paced, making it perfect for when you need a break.

Directed by Seo Yoo-min, the film stars Doh Kyung-soo, Won Jin-ah, Shin Ye-eun, and other cast members. The plot follows a passionate pianist who returns for treatment after his wrist is injured. While undergoing treatment, he joins his father’s college where he comes across an interesting woman.
