Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 4 was decent and did what we expected it to do. Let us see how the 4th episode went in detail.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 3 Recap

Today’s episode starts on a relaxed note as we dive into the training arc led by ex-Hashira, Usui. The trainees quickly realize that Usui’s training is anything but easy. Ruthless and demanding, he pushes them to their limits with a regimen focused on building their base strength. They endure long runs up the mountain, climb steep cliffs, and are force-fed by Usui after their grueling workouts. Assisting him are his three wives, who prepare all the food for the trainees.

Tanjiro joins the training after recovering, bringing his trademark positivity and energy, which lifts the spirits of everyone present. Interestingly, Inosuke and Zenitsu are absent from this training session, suggesting they might be training elsewhere. The first half of the episode is relatively uneventful, as Obanai notes that it feels like the calm before the storm.

Towards the end, the episode drops a few important hints that are likely to play a significant role later on. We also see Usui back in action, showcasing his formidable skills and raising questions about whether he truly needs to remain retired. His strength far surpasses that of a standard demon slayer, and even Tanjiro and the other trainees can’t match him, highlighting their need for more training.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 4 Review This Time It Is Tokito

We get another training episode that is focused on Tajiro’s journey from one Hashira to another. This time it is Tokito’s place where he finds himself. Right off the bat, even Tanjiro gets shocked that Tokito has been treating his students with blunt and ruthless remarks and giving them a reality check about their lack of talent.

But this merciless behavior gets instantly switched when Tokito sees Tanjiro, who has now become a friend to him after fighting alongside each other in the swordsmith village. Thus, the experience that Tanjiro has is very different from others, not just because they know each other but also because Tanjiro is naturally talented. After only a few days, Tanjiro mastered the basics and made the technique his own.

This part is what makes the majority of the first episode and honestly, they again stretched things when they did not need to. We do get some really good fight sequences that look beautiful, especially, when Tokito fought against Sanemi and Obanai. But other than that, this was another light and uneventful segment.

It appears we will see Tanjiro training with individual Hashira’s in each episode. I am not really complaining as we are getting additional dialogues and scenes, but I would prefer to enter the final war arc as we have waited for long enough.

But yes, it is nice to see Tokito again, and that too smiling. He has grown as a person significantly since the last time we saw him, and it is nice to witness him act his age with Tanjiro. Tanjiro even created a situation to form more friends for Tokito towards the end.

Verdict

All in all, I loved this episode, but I also agree it did not have anything too extraordinary for us. You will enjoy this obviously, but, you will also feel they are slowing the pace too much. Things could have easily moved to the next segment here and the previous episode but, they are stalling things to cover this season with the training arc, which is a bit disappointing.
