A Condition Called Love Episode 2 Review: A Condition Called Love has released their much-awaited second episode. Let us see if this episode was worth the wait or not.
A Condition Called Love Episode 2 Overview
A Condition Called Love, also known as Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai (花野井くんと恋の病), is a manga series written by Morino Megumi. It was first published on KakaoPage on July 25, 2016, and then fully published by D&C Media on November 4, 2016. Yen Press has licensed an English version.
The manga series appeared in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in December 2017, and there are 14 volumes as of November 2023. An anime adaptation of the series is coming out in April 2024, and it’s produced by East Fish Studio.
The anime series will feature Sexy Zone’s “Kimi no Sei” (“It’s Your Fault”) as its opening theme song, and Mina Okabe’s Japanese version of “Every Second” as the ending theme song.
Episode 2 of A Condition Called Love can also be called the 2nd episode of Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai (花野井くんと恋の病).
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

A Condition Called Love Episode 2 Review and Recap – Babysteps Towards Beloved

It is the first day of Hotaru being Hananoi’s official girlfriend and she is still trying to figure things out. This is a completely new experience for her and hence, she’s doing her best to play the role of a suitable girlfriend as much as possible.
The good thing about their relationship is that Hotaru understands her boyfriend is a little bit odd. He is not like other guys and his level of affection is more severe than others. Thus, Hotaru also feels guilty to be at the receiving end of his affection all the time.
Plus the fact that she is not accustomed to doing girl-friendly things is something that grates on her mind every now and then. Like the time when Hananoi offered her his gloves and Hotaru refused them out of curtsy. In a normal relationship, a girlfriend might have accepted those gloves but a subtle reaction like this, is alien to our Hotaru and that thought keeps her stressed.

In this episode, we also witness the high degree of Hananoi’s devotion when we see just how early he arrives at the station just to wait for Hotaru. He is certainly mysterious and hard to read and I have a feeling he’s hiding way more than he’s letting out and it feels like he has a dark side to himself as well.
On top of that, we find out that he grew up alone with his parents travelling overseas as doctors. So perhaps he’s the kind of clingy boyfriend who has attachment issues. He might be someone not willing to let go of their beloved once they meet their fated pair. Now, whether his behaviour will push away Hotaru or it will bring her closer as she herself is new to this, is something that we will have to see in the future.
But, we do see Hotaru coming up with a way to find out if she wants to stay with Hananoi or not. And, that way, is to try kissing him.

Verdict
I like this episode and I’m happy that things are finally moving between our pair. I do believe they are best suited to each other as both Hotaru and Hananoi are unique individuals with very distinct personalities. Hopefully, they will end up being in a real relationship and move on from this trial period soon.
