Chicken Nugget Ending Explained

Chicken Nugget kicks off with Ko Baek-joong singing and dancing his way to work, much to the bemusement of passersby who label him as eccentric. Within the confines of office space, Baek-joong is seen receiving a sizable delivery alongside Choi Seon-man, the content president of a machinery company who yearns for a tranquil existence devoid of upheavals. Their conversation hints at the anticipated arrival of a vibrant purple contraption. A nameless full-time employee, discontented with his peanut-like salary, joins them, masking dissatisfaction with forced laughter.

As they settle into work, the clock ticks toward noon, signalling lunchtime. Baek-joong’s plans for a break are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Choi Min-ah, Seon-man’s daughter, who brings with her a box of chicken nuggets. Baek-joong’s attempts to align with Min-ah’s standards of attractiveness, based on her earlier critique, have been futile. Over lunch, Min-ah dismisses him again, this time focusing on the new fatigue-relieving machine. Eager to try it after a mere 14 hours of sleep, she triggers its activation.

In a bizarre twist, Min-ah, upon pressing the machine’s button, undergoes a surreal transformation into a chicken nugget, leaving Baek-joong and Seon-man bewildered. It becomes apparent that this isn’t the anticipated machine. Baek-joong, acting swiftly, places Min-ah (now in nugget form) on a clean plate before joining Seon-man to investigate the sender of the mysterious machine.

Upon their return, they are horrified to find the full-time employee about to consume the nuggets, assuming Min-ah to be just another piece of poultry. Panic ensues, with accusations flying as Seon-man’s shock escalates, and Baek-joong labels the unwitting employee as a savage cannibal. In the chaos, snippets of Seon-man’s personal tragedy surface, highlighting his deep attachment to Min-ah. The revelation that Min-ah might be in the fridge, disguised among the chicken nuggets, intensifies the confusion. Efforts to identify her through sesame seed counts fail, prompting a desperate review of CCTV footage.

The footage reveals an enraged deliveryman, adding a layer of mystery to the situation. Despite considering involving the authorities, they fear Min-ah becoming a scientific curiosity. As the full-time employee departs, Baek-joong’s recognition of the deliveryman through a peculiar song sets the stage for their pursuit to rescue Min-ah from her nugget form.

Yoo In-won explained his disappearance and revealed that the machine was now defunct, and he temporarily incapacitated Baek-joong and Seon-man to prevent interference in his further experiments.

Amidst the chaos, the scene shifted dramatically when employees from the nugget store, claiming to be aliens stranded on Earth for 200 years due to a lost machine, revealed that the only way to return Min-ah to her original form was to take her to their planet. Facing a heart-wrenching decision, Choi Sun-man opted to accompany his daughter and the group of aliens, including Dr. Yoo, embarking on a journey into the unknown.
