Best Characters in The Idol That Make the Show Worthwhile

After rigging us for four weeks with four episodes, the season finale of The Idol is almost here. The series created by the music world icon- The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, and Euphoria’s Sam Levinson has been the talk of the town for a while now. The drama is directed by Levinson under the production company banners of The Reasonable Bunch, Manic Phase, Little Lamb, People Pleaser, Bron, A24 and HBO Entertainment.

The cast for the series includes Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd as Tedros, in major roles. The show features a considerable support cast that includes Suzanna Son as Chloe, Troye Sivan as Xander, Jennie Ruby Jane as Dyanne, Moses Sumney as Izaak, Jane Adams as Nikki Katz, Dan Levy as Jocelyn’s publicist, Eli Roth as Andrew Finkelstein, Rachel Sennott as Leia, Hari Nef as Talia, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Destiny, Hank Azaria as Chaim, Melanie Liburd as Jenna, Kate Lyn Sheil as Amy alongside Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley, Nico Hiraga, Anne Heche, Maya Eshet, Tyson Ritter, Liz Caribel Sierra, Karl Glusman, Sophie Mudd, Charly Summer, Mitch Modes and more.

Over the course of four episodes, the opinions of the viewers have drastically changed. The show is facing backlash from a certain segment whereas another lot of the audience is really into where the show is going. Nevertheless, the verdict remains strong on certain characters who are making the show worthwhile and, here’s our list of the same.

Best Characters in The Idol Who Save the Show Every Time

1. Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Destiny

After The Idol Episode 4, there should be no doubt why Jocelyn’s co-manger Destiny tops this list. The woman is just pure badass. She not only went down the rabbit hole to dig up all the details about Tedros but, also suggested to Chiam how they should kill the cult leader taking over Joss’ life. However, when Chiam does not chime into the idea, she deliberately inserts herself in Joss’ life again by frequenting her visits to the house.

With the kickass boss lady side, there is also a soft and caring side to Destiny that does not miss our eye. Be it her reaching out to Jocelyn during her emotional meltdown while shooting the music video for World Class Sinner or lending her ear and advice to a young Chloe, De is the glamorous queen that is keeping this show alive.

2. Rachel Sennott as Leia

Jocelyn’s personal assistant is none other than her best friend Leia and that is one helluva combo. Initially, Leia seemed really uptight and unable to enjoy anything but, with the progress of the show, we understand why she is the way she is. In fact, if not for Leia’s observant and careful nature Jocelyn would be in deeper trouble with Tedros than she is now. However, it is sad to see how this character is treated in the show, although all she wants to do is do something good for Jocelyn and fit in the pop-world.

3. Suzanna Son as Chloe

Suzanna Son is an incredible singer and it all comes out through her portrayal of the character Chloe. Although Chloe belongs to the wrong side of the town- out of Tedros’ dungeons, you can never be sure if she is a nice person or not, over the past few episodes it has been nice seeing the talented sunshine she is. No doubt she gave us the creeps when she watched Tedros get intimate with Jocelyn but, we understand how young and vulnerable she is to be in that place.

In fact, her interaction with Destiny in The Idol Episode 4 was really impactful. It gave us an insight into who Chloe is and where she is heading. Overall, she is a lovely character who always lights up the screen with her musical notes and innocence.

4. Hank Azaria as Chaim

If anything, Azaria’s Chaim seems like a father figure in Jocelyn’s life. From being tensed about the cum-picture to letting her know he has faith in her when Nikki ditched her World Class Sinner remix with Tedros, Chaim has always extended a strong hand to support Jocelyn. Destiny’s partner and Joss’ co-manger, Chaim is a cutie as well as a baddie. He does not shy away from locking people up or showing up on the front lawn with a gun but, his soft heart reaches out to Jocelyn and cares for her and recently, has been worried about her.

5. Jennie Ruby Jane as Dyanne

Although this K-Pop artist’s character is running against Jocelyn, mixing with Tedros and doing things that are villainous in nature, we cannot help but wonder how everything Dyanne is doing, she is doing it for herself and is being honest. It is not her fault that she is a fabulous singer and Nikki picked her but, when given a choice, she did ask Joss for permission to take World Class Sinner. Dyanne is a grey character at this time but, her presence, no matter how little is always impactful in the right way.
