Barry season 4 kickstarted on April 16, 2023, and our favourite assassin-turned-actor, Barry’s life, is crumbling. After covering up lies after lies by stacking body after body, his most-trusted person Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) sets his arrest. Now that Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) is in jail and is in pursuit of redemption, people around him aren’t going to let him do that easily. Most importantly, his mentor Fuches (Stephen Root), is definitely not going to let him live in peace.
Fuches has always been the best pal for Barry, at least that’s what the hitman thought, but when his acting career came in and he started to have a change of mind, Fuches’ terrible actions proved that he never really cared about Barry. In season 4, we get to see flashbacks of toddler Barry and Fuches, revealing to us how the old man tamed the protagonist. Here are some reasons why Fuches is actually the dangerous villain that Barry has to face.

4 Reasons Why Fuches Might be the Dangerous Villain in Barry Season 4
Fuches is Manipulative
Fuches is pretty good at wordplay that he can actually make believe anyone with his story. Since Barry trusts Fuches, the latter tends to manipulate him into believing that the assassin’s life would never leave him. We also see how, no matter what, Barry tends to patch up with Fuches because of the villain’s soft father-like demeanor. Fuches manipulates not just Barry but other people like NoHo Hank. In Season 1, he made the Chechens almost kill Barry by pretending he is on their side.
Fuches Knows Everything About Barry

In Barry season 4, we see how a young Barry comes out of his home to meet Fuches, who is a friend of his father. Little Barry seems all shy, and Fuches seems very understanding. It is evident that since his childhood, Barry has been fond of Fuches’ gentle look. Now that Fuches groomed Barry post his father’s death, the villain knows his weak spots of Barry. This could be a major drawback for Barry for Fuches can make use of his weakness to dominate him.

Fuches Made Use of Barry’s PTSD
After Barry killed an innocent person in the Afghanistan war, the ex-marine developed PTSD. When he was at his lowest and was struggling from past memories, nightmares, and such related situations, Fuches took the chance and turned the ex-marine into an assassin. Since we know Fuches is Barry’s mentor, it is obvious that the good man would follow his guidelines. If only Barry had received proper help, he’d have prospered well, but sadly, with Fuches’ intentions, Barry ended up killing people, unlike him.

Fuches Literally Told Everyone About Barry’s Hitman Career
In the first season, when Barry was assigned to kill actor Ryan, that’s when he started to have a change of heart. While Barry was assigned to kill the actor, the Chechens finished him off first. After regretting the loss of Ryan, we see Barry trying his best to let go of his haunting past. But at such a time, Fuches enters the scene and tells the important people about Barry’s evil side
Firstly, he told Ryan’s father that Barry killed his son. Then, Fuches also opened the truth about Barry killing Janice Moss to Gene Cousineau. Further, he also met Chris’ wife and son and revealed how Barry (who is Chris’ best friend) shot him to death. For Fuches’ benefit, he revealed about Barry’s murders to the respective people. This caused Barry to have more enemies attacking from every direction, some of which he has no clue about.
