Oh Belinda (Aaahh Belinda) is a brand new Turkish comedy-drama that premiered on April 7, 2023 on Netflix. Directed by Deniz Yorulmazer and written by Hakan Bonomo, the movie follows a successful, modern actress who magically gets transported into the life of a character that she plays in a shampoo commercial. The movie is a modern remake of the 1986 classic of the same name.
Neslihan Atagül plays the lead character, and the supporting cast includes Serkan Çayoglu, Necip Memili, Meral Çetinkaya, Efe Tunçer, Gamze Karaduman, Sacide Taşaner and more. The approximate runtime of the film is 97 minutes.
Oh Belinda Ending Explained
During the shampoo commercial’s shoot, Dilara suddenly transports to a world unknown to her. Eventually, she realises that her actual existence has vanished from the world and she has entered Handan’s life, the character she was playing. Confusion sets in, and she desperately tries to win her life back, but everything fails. However, she realises that Handan is not as simple as she seemed in the script and leads a more complicated life. Secrets start to pour out, which makes her life difficult.
What happens between Handan and Akif?
We are introduced to Akif, who is her senior at work and also her brother-in-law. It is revealed that she is having an extramarital affair with him. However, their story is more complex as they both were engaged in money laundering. Handan had kept a secret bag of money inside her home, but Dilara was not aware of the place. Eventually, she finds out where the bag is kept and carries it around with her in hopes of returning it to the owner.
Did Dilara appear in the musical?
Dilara reaches the venue to appear in the musical she had been rehearsing for, but to her surprise, she has been fired. The director and the entire crew become aware of her personal life that she had been hiding from the. They find out that she has a husband and two children that she had been hiding from them. Helplessly, she leaves the venue along with the bag of money.
Did Dilara return to her world?
Defeated, she goes to the top of the roof in an attempt to take her own life. Suddenly it starts pouring heavily, and she starts to do the dance routine for the musical that she had been practising for. Meanwhile, her husband also arrives along with the police to rescue her. But she keeps on dancing without stopping and throws the money in the air. A crowd gathers below the building and starts to collect the money being thrown from above. And suddenly, Dilara returns to her old body, under the same shower and in the same room where she was shooting the commercial.
Did Dilara actually transport into a world or was it just a dream?
The ending of the movie is incomprehensible and does not provide the answers to the looming questions. It is possible that a supernatural instance managed to send her to an entirely different place, and it is connected to the shampoo, Belinda. A person with the shampoo costume is seen at the end, which might be connected to the event and solely responsible for the paranormal event. But there is no possible way of knowing for sure about how she was transported.
On the other hand, there is also a possibility that it was Dilara’s elaborate imagination and everything was happening inside her mind. Her effort to portray the character went so deeply that her brain altered reality. Additionally, she heavily disliked Handan’s character for being too prude and “holy”, which is why the character had many secrets.
