The episode starts with US president Burdick explaining the Climate Intervention Treaty, which will stop all geoengineering companies trying to eradicate climate issues. After hearing this news, Jonathan, an ex Alpha industries employee now a civil servant, finds the news blissful. Meanwhile, his son Rowan dislikes the treaty news since Jonathan is the one who advised the president on this idea. Rowan believes the treaty will worsen the climate issues and not advocate humanity.

Fast forward to six months later, Jonathan is now with his third wife, Mariama, inside a yacht waiting for Rowan to come since it is Father’s Day. Jonathan tries to contact Rowan but couldn’t reach him. Then he gets a call from Martha, an Alpha employee whom he asked to spy on Rowan. Martha says that Rowan is in Djibouti, which makes Jonathan believe Rowan might be with his ex-wife and stepmother of Rowan, Ms. Gita, the CEO of New Sky Initiatives. The latter’s company has expertise in major technological inventions.
We can see Gita in a conference presenting her company’s invention, the first carbon-neutral unmanned cargo plane. Since it is the world’s first unmanned cargo plan found under her guidance, she names it “The Rowan.” Martha sends this particular conference video to Jonathan, which leads him to wonder what Gita and Rowan are planning.

The test flight successfully gets executed. However, Rowan fears that Jonathan might find out about his plan. Gita assures Rowan that he can blame her if things go wrong and add that he can leave whenever he wants. Rowan decides to stay till the flight’s launching ceremony. Meanwhile, when Jonathan watches the launch event on TV, he believes the plane’s idea might be linked to Rowan’s fifth-grade science project.
Gita demonstrates the plane’s capabilities by taking it to an altitude of 48 thousand feet. This shocks Jonathan, and he checks the stock prices of Alpha Industries only to find a huge increase. This makes him suspect that Gita’s planes might be loaded with chemical solutions used for geoengineering. He shares with Martha that Gita’s plan can be extremely dangerous.

Extrapolations Episode 4 Ending
Gita’s terrorism plan comes out to light at the end. Gita’s real reason behind the plane is to threaten President Burdick and demand her cancel the Treaty. Gita says that the planes include calcium carbonate and will release it into the air if her demands are unmet. This denotes that her plan is based on Rowan’s science project, the 1991 volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Gita firmly believes that releasing calcium carbonate into the atmosphere will cool the earth, similar to how the volcanic ashes did in 1991.
When Gita tries to execute her plan, the US forces try to stop her, but the plane explodes. Gita gives up her life, and Rowan proceeds with the final stage of their plan. As they thought, calcium carbonate is released into the atmosphere, but sadly the amount is excessive. Jonathan and his third wife watch on TV how their world is now crumbled with calcium-carbonate polluted air.
Final Thoughts
The episode focuses on how certain companies ruin the ecosystem believing they’re heroes. Since Rowan and Gita polluted the atmosphere with excess calcium carbonate, it shows how the human race will now face deadly consequences. With great CGI effects, the episode sent a chill down the spine, making one worry about the possible tragic future the generation will face.
