Liaison Episode 3 Recap

The episode opens with Gabriel and his boss, Alain Duman, in a bar holding an intense conversation about recent events. Alain is shocked upon finding out that Gabriel met Alison and urges him to remain careful. He reveals some aspects of their relationship and indicates that it fell apart after Alison betrayed Gabriel to secure her future. However, Gabriel assures his boss that he does not have any feelings for his past lover anymore.

Soon after, Gabriel is given a new identity and passport to get a hold of Myriam, Salim’s wife, who is currently staying at the Brussels refugee detention centre. He reaches the detention centre and manages to convince the officials that he is from the French government and can provide asylum for Myriam and her son. After conversing with Myriam herself, they head out of the area.

Meanwhile, Alison, along with Mark, arrives at European Commission in Brussels to sign the cyber security agreement, but they are met with roadblocks as Sabine does not allow them to meet with the officials. On the other hand, the situation in the refugee centre soon went south when two men dressed in hazmat suits tried to take Myriam with them forcefully. Fortunately, Gabriel arrives in time and saves her from the kidnappers. Gabriel was injured during the incident, and Myriam called up Alison for help.

Liaison Episode 3 Review

The story is becoming more intense and complicated with each episode. However, the plot failed to surprise me as the twists and turns were predictable. The plotline for the major part is straightforward and easy to understand, but it is not exciting or new to keep the audience hooked. It often feels like the series has reached a standstill and refuses to move forward. Another major drawback is the lack of development for the characters. After three episodes, there is barely any information about the motives and intentions behind a person’s actions which creates a massive disconnect.

Nevertheless, the series has maintained the tone it has set since the first episodes. The actors have remained in their characters throughout and attempted to provide the much-needed depth.
