Smoke Sprite Teaser: SoYoON and BTS’ RM Join Forces for a Phenomenally Surprising Collaboration

The South Korean Singer-songwriter, composer, and guitarist SoYoON (also a member and founder of the band SE SO NEON) is all set to come out with her second full album titled Episode1: Love, this March. The leading track for the same is Smoke Sprite, which welcomes a surprising collaboration with an even more astonishing fellow Korean artist. Revealing the first video visual of the upcoming K-pop comeback, the artist’s music video teaser for the song was released today, i.e. on March 8, 2023, giving us a glimpse into RM’s (also known as Kim Namjoon) involvement in the project as well.

Taking us by storm, the video teaser unveiled today is such that it will leave your head spinning and eyes squinting for hints. The cinematics of the video have been sped up and linked to each other in the form of a loop that keeps going on for the first five seconds, till the final text is spread out across the screen, disclosing the date and time of the MV premiere. The same 9-10 visuals keep repeating, and some of them are simply flashes of light, while others put forth dramatic solo image shots of both the singers.

SoYoON can be seen lying down with her hair drenched in a pool of water. Another shot reveals her in a fierce avatar as she pulls the string of a bow with her arrow, all ready to launch into flight. Furthermore, a different look captures her adorning a dazzling black dress. And, she’s pictured sitting beside a water body, decked in an eye-catching golden top, that almost look like a Neo-armour. The following sequences also shine the spotlight on the BTS leader, Namjoon, who has also opted for an all-black ensemble.

In addition to that, some snaps of a few locations also find their way into the video that leaves room for some trippy portraits as well. In the end, the fast-running cycle of the individual scenes makes it seem as if they’re being consumed by their succeeding image. This effect helps the teaser acquire a hallucinatory and dreamlike quality.

The title track will stand in as the second track on the singer’s album. Its lyrics have been penned by both the artists collaborating for the project alongside Chae Lin-suh, and it has been composed by the former two with Te Rim and chiyoonhae. The last two composers have also arranged the track with SoYoON.

Episode1: Love consists of 11 tracks – IN (Void), Smoke Sprite (feat. ??), Till the sun goes up, Bad, why don’t you take me out (skit), Gave you all my love (feat. jibin of Y2K92), zone out; (skit), EXIT LOVE (a secret visitor) (feat. parkjiyoon), CANADA, and OUT (to be continued… 🙂. Namjoon’s contribution to the second, also the title track of the album was kept a secret until today.
