In some exciting news, James Gunn has finally shared his vision for the future of the DC Universe upcoming projects from DC Studios. The slate of upcoming projects was the much-talked-about topic on the internet for the past 2-3 days or ever since James Gunn was appointed at its helm.
In a video released by DC studios which is titled ‘Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters’, James Gunn is seen welcoming the viewers and talks about the DC’s plan to take its characters and stories forward. He further shares the upcoming titles that are set to be released soon like Shazam Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle – a film about a kid who’s a marvellous part of the DCU and then Aquaman 2 which leads directly into the next few projects that will be coming in the near future.
DC Universe Upcoming Projects
Creature Commandos
Creature Commandos is an upcoming animated HBO Max series that has been written by James Gunn. It will have seven episodes and will follow the adventures of Rick Flagg Sr., Dr Phosphorus, Nina Mazursky, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein (described as the lead of the show), G.I. Robot, and Weasel. Also, there’s a possibility that the actor who will voice them will also act in its live-action if made.

Waller
Waller is the story of Amanda Waller who is played by Viola Davis. She is going to team up with members of the Team Peacemaker or in other words, it’s a spin-off, which has been created by Christhal Henry who wrote Watchman and Jeremy Carver who created the Doom Patrol.
Superman: Legacy
It is called the true beginning of the DCU by James Gunn and is being written by him as well. It is set to be released on 11 July 2025, however, no cast has been revealed for it yet.
Lanterns
It is an upcoming television series and will be starring Hal Jordan and John Stewart. It will be more of a True Detective-type mystery with the two Lanterns. The story is going to weave back and forth between the films and the television shows where they will be like supercops on Precinct Earth.
The Authority
The Authority is an upcoming movie and it will be about a group of superheroes who think the world is broken and they want to fix it by any means necessary. Whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments or anything that will make things right in their perception.
Paradise Lost
Paradise Lost is an upcoming series about Themyscira/Paradise Island, home of the Amazons and the birthplace of Wonder Woman. This involves all of the darkness, drama and political intrigue behind this society of only women. It’s an origin story of how this society of women came about, almost like Game of Thrones with Westeros, as stated by Gunn.
The Brave and the Bold
It is a live-action movie with an introduction to DCU’s Batman. This is the story of Damian Wayne, who’s Batman’s actual son whom he didn’t know existed for the first eight to ten years of his life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. It’s based on the Grant Morrison comic run and doesn’t star any of the known Batman lead actors.
The Batman sequel
Robert Pattinson will continue to play Batman in this film which is directed by Matt Reeves. It will be released on October 3, 2025, and is being titled The Batman Part II.
Booster Gold
It is a live-action HBO Max series about the story of a superhero’s imposter syndrome. It will follow a loser from the future who uses his basic future technology to come back to today to pretend to be a superhero.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
It is a live-action movie which is based on Tom King’s and Bilquis Evely’s comics. In this story, Superman was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving parents. Kara was on Krypton. She was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and she lived there for the first fourteen years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. She will be a much more jaded character as stated by Gunn.
Swamp Thing
This live-action film will investigate the dark origins of Swamp Thing and will be a horror story.
